Our Kitchen – The Heart of Our Home
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of GE Appliances. The opinions and text are all mine. My kitchen isn't the most stylish of kitchens. (I would love a kitchen remodel!) But my daughters and I love spending time in our kitchen together! Our kitchen is the place where I first fed my daughters peas and carrots when they were teeny tiny, where they helped me bake when they were just tots and where they now try out new baking recipes on their own! Our GE appliances have been very reliable, and we still bake in the same GE oven that I baked in when my kids Continue reading...
Essential Kitchen Tools
*This post contains affiliate links. My kitchen is a fairly small one, so I try not to stock it with too many kitchen tools. That means that the kitchen tools I have must work well! These are the tools I think any well-stocked kitchen should have. Enameled Cast-Iron Dutch Oven - I was lucky to find my Le Creuset dutch oven in my basement -- in an unopened box! It belonged to my mother in law, and it looks like she never used it. I use my dutch oven daily -- it can be used for soups and stews and even for pasta. My dutch oven is a boring brown -- I wish it was in a Continue reading...
GlobeIn Monthly Subscription Boxes
* I received a complimentary GlobeIn Artisan Box, but all opinions expressed within this post are 100% my own. A happy surprise arrived on my doorstep the other day: A GlobeIn "Artisan Box." The box was filled with all sorts of handmade and Fair Trade products for baking and for use in the kitchen, including a bag of organic Better World Brownie Mix! GlobeIn Artisan Boxes are monthly subscription boxes that contain hand-picked items from artisans from across the globe. GlobeIn's editors choose the items of the GlobeIn Artisan boxes each month and ship them to GlobIn subscribers. Continue reading...
How to Season a Cast Iron Pan So It Won’t Stick
*This post contains Amazon affiliate links. My non-stick pan has become anything but non-stick recently, so I've decided to invest in a Le Creuset cast iron pan. I've been wanting to switch to a cast iron skillet because I worry about the chemicals that a non-stick pan may contain. But, as you may know, you have to "season" a cast iron pan before using it, otherwise everything will stick! So recently, I seasoned my cast iron pan! All it took were five easy steps to season my pan and ready it for use. Now my cast iron pan is just as good as any non-stick pan! Plus, it will likely last Continue reading...
#FF Follow Friday Faves!
Happy Friday, everyone! In honor of the end of the work and school week, I thought I'd share with you some of my Follow Friday (#FF) faves! To start out, I love the wire heart ring tutorial by Erlene of My Pinterventures. I never thought I would try to make jewelry, but I might give her rings a try! They are so pretty, and they don't look that difficult to make! Her rings might make nice gifts for my daughters for Valentine's Day! I met Erlene through the Spring Craft Blog Hop that we co-hosted this week together! My next fave is the lace dress for winter by Carrie of Crafty Curly Mom. I Continue reading...
Scary Toaster Oven Fire and How I Put Out the Flames
My kids and I were having a normal Tuesday night yesterday when I decided to heat up a taco shell and have a second taco for dinner. I put the taco shell into my convection toaster oven, set the timer, and stepped away to my computer (just feet away) to reply to an email. Before I knew it, I smelled burning, and there was a fire raging in my toaster oven! That convection toaster oven has been burning things since the first day we owned it, but I never suspected that it could be such a fire hazard! I should have known not to turn my back on that toaster oven! It's been nothing Continue reading...
An Organized Home in 2015
Hey, everyone! How has your weekend been? It's a rainy weekend here in New Jersey, and my family and I are feeling a little cooped up because of the weather! LOL So, I am here blogging through the rain, and decided to share one of my top goals for 2015 -- GETTING MY HOME ORGANIZED! I got a lot done over the past few months in organizing the clutter in my house, so I decided to share a few of the organizing tactics that have worked for me so far. Organize the Basement If your home has a basement like mine does, you are in luck! A basement is a great place to store and corral all your Continue reading...
Cyber Monday at Kohls
I am not much of a Black Friday shopper, so I slept in on Friday instead of hitting the stores. (I am not one for getting up very early or for pushing and shoving.) LOL! But I will be hitting Kohls.com today for Cyber Monday, as I am a HUGE cyber Monday shopper! #KohlsBlackFriday continues online at Kohls.com today at for Cyber Monday! I just love shopping at Kohl's. Kohl's is where I buy most of my own clothing, and it is also a great place to pick up deals for my kids and for my husband. And of course, because I am a home decor freak, I can often be found stalking Kohl's home decor Continue reading...
