I have been working to update the decor in most of my home, but one room that has remained mostly untouched is the master bedroom. I have made updates to the room recently, but I still have a way to go to get the room where I want it to be. I’ve recently added a Samara 6 Piece Coverlet Set (that I purchased on Amazon.com) to my bedroom — I really love how the coverlet set adds color to the room. I have been kicking around some master bedroom ideas, so I’d thought I’d share them and get your input!
The coverlet in my home’s master bedroom has a beautiful medallion print on it in green, teal, brown and yellow. The set came with two pillows shams and three throw pillows to complete the look.
Before I got the coverlet set, I didn’t make the bed too often, but now that the bed has a pretty coverlet, I have been making sure to make the bed in the morning! LOL.
My husband and I usually have stacks of reading material on either side of our bed, so I’ve added pretty green ClosetMaid organizing bins
in which to stash all our magazines and books out of sight! The ClosetMaid bins come in lots of colors so I can always change out the color if I like! (E.g., I can use beautiful blue or yellow-colored bins instead.)
I usually have a down comforter or two underneath our bed’s coverlet in the winter , since I am always cold! I’d love to cover my plain white duvets with beautiful cotton duvet covers. I was recently introduced to a company, Parachute, that offers a great selection of quality bedding. I think that the cotton duvets from Parachute, which come in beautiful shades of gray and blue, would work perfectly! I could match the duvet covers with Parachute’s beautiful sheet sets.

Master Bedroom Decor Ideas
Because the coverlet set doesn’t completely cover the sides of my bedroom’s king-sized bed (the box spring shows), I’d love to make a DIY bed skirt or dust ruffle for the bed. I think Kris from Driven By Decor’s tutorial on how to make a bed skirt from a flat sheet is brilliant! I might use her tutorial to create a custom bed skirt for the bed in my home’s master bedroom.
I’d love to add some DIY art or decor to the room, for just above the bed. I think the space above the bed looks pretty bare now. I am not sure how to decorate that space!
One option is hanging framed monograms above the bed, like the ones created by Kristi of My Weekly Habit.
Other ways I could add more interest and color to the room would be by painting an accent wall behind the bed and adding a pretty accent rug. I love how the accent wall and the area rug brighten up this room by Haeley of Design Improvised!
Have any ideas on how I can improve the look of my home’s master bedroom? I’d love to hear your ideas!

That’s such a pretty coverlet! It looks very similar to one that my mother-in-law made for my husband’s sister.
