I love decorating my home for the seasons. My decor isn’t always planned — sometimes I go where my whims take me. Recently, a trip to my local Target store spurred a new DIY fall gallery wall in my home’s living room! For me, my home is one big craft/art project! Luckily my hubby doesn’t complain about it much.
When I shop at Target, I love stopping at my local store’s dollar spot area. On one recent trip, I was lucky enough to snag an inexpensive blank pallet-style wooden sign, a wooden “Family” cutout, some silver and gold fall-themed transfer stickers, and some wooden autumn leaves. I knew these craft supplies would be perfect for an easy DIY wood sign.
Easy DIY Wood Sign
My DIY wood sign was so easy to make. I literally made the sign while watching one half-hour HGTV program.

Fall Transfer Stickers
Wood Leaf Shapes
My transfer stickers came with two sheets — stickers in gold, and some in silver. At first I was going to use gold stickers, but they blended in too well with the wood and were hard to see. So I switched to silver stickers instead.
To transfer my stickers to the board, I first cut out my selected stickers. I then peeled off the backing and positioned the stickers on the board. I then carefully applied pressure to the letters to make sure they were adhered to the board, and carefully pulled off the clear upper layer that covered the stickers. Simple.
The leaf-shaped stickers already had a strong adhesive backing to them. So all I had to do was stick the stickers where I wanted on my sign. Easiest pallet wood sign ever.
DIY Gallery Wall
Until recently, the decor on my living room wall consisted of a few yarn wrapped wooden stars. (You can see my tutorial for how to make these stars on Ask Anna.) They stars were hung on the wall with a few clear Command hooks.
Since my stars gallery wall started out as Christmas holiday decor, I thought that I could jazz it up by adding my new sign as well as another DIY autumn sign I made almost two years ago. (Check out my DIY Thanksgiving wooden sign tutorial for the details on how I made this sign.)
To add a new fall look to my new gallery wall, I simply removed two of the stars and added the two DIY fall wooden signs that I had made. I used Command hanging strips to hang my new family wooden sign from Target.
I think the gallery wall looks more complete, and I look forward to adding to it and changing it throughout the seasons!
