Outdoor Patio Dog Enclosure (Amazon Find)

May 22, 2022 By Lauren

This post contains Amazon affiliate links. Today I'm sharing a project my husband and I completed this weekend—or, I should say, HE completed! (Here's a BIG shout out of THANKS to my hubby!) I started a new work-from-home job in September, and have been wanting to create an outdoor office of sorts on my patio. The only problem I had is that our yard isn't fenced, and I have a 4-year-old Shih Tzu who wants to be with me basically 24/7. Which is good until he sees a squirrel and wants to go tearing after it! Thus, the need for the fence! I looked into all sorts of fencing options, Continue reading...

Planting Shrubs and Trees This Fall

October 18, 2021 By Lauren

The fall is a good time to plant bushes like hydrangea.

Thanks to PlantingTree.com for sponsoring this post. I've always wanted a hydrangea plant. So when PlantingTree.com asked me if I would like to partner with them, I happily agreed. PlantingTree.com can send trees, shrubs and other plants like ornamental grasses right to your door. Ordering a Hyndrangea Plant in the Mail I decided to order an endless summer hydrangea plant. Once I ordered my hydrangea plant, it only took it 3 days to get to my door. My 1-gallon hydrangea ($59.95) arrived on my doorstep in perfect condition with big, beautiful green leaves. With Planting Continue reading...

How to Become an Urban Homesteader

Thanks to Park Seed for this guest post. Over time, technology and modern conveniences have become essential in our lives. We can place orders with 2-day shipping, take virtual tours and even have watches that can measure our blood oxygen levels. (How cool!) While it’s awesome to have these conveniences at our fingertips, it feels good to be self-sufficient and do something on our own. It's rewarding to work with our own hands, without the help of computers or video tutorials.  Many looking for a more self-sufficient lifestyle are embracing the idea of homesteading. Thanks to Card My Yard Millstone for partnering with Mom Home Guide for this post. Yesterday my twins graduated from high school! I can't believe how quickly time has flown! Surprisingly, I didn't cry at their graduation ceremony yesterday. But I admit that I did cry the night before! I happened to drive by my kids' high school Tuesday evening and got weepy. I realized that I will no longer be driving my twins to school! Even though I thought I didn't like driving them to school at about 7 am whenever they missed the school bus, I did enjoy those times together in the car. I've Continue reading...

This post contains Amazon affiliate links. I am happy that spring has finally arrived here in New Jersey! I am loving all the daffodils that are blooming in my front yard. I adore the warmer temperatures. I was feeling crafty recently, so I did a quick and easy craft for my backyard - wind chimes! I used an old terra cotta pot that I spray painted, cut out some vinyl designs with my Silhouette machine, and strung some beads and mini bells together. I got the beads and cute mini bells from Amazon. Terra Cotta pot wind chimes are a fun and easy craft. Terra Cotta Pot Wind Continue reading...

Easy Patio Planter Posts for String Lights

string lights hung from DIY planter posts

Thanks to Thompson's for providing the Waterseal Waterproofing Stain used in this post. I've always wanted to add extra lighting to my home's patio. When we moved in, our patio only had the one light fixture by the back door, which did little to light up the patio. Last summer I put up simple patio planter string light posts that I secured with Sakrete (quick setting concrete) in planters and hung string lights from. Last week I decided to add a few more DIY patio planter posts and an extra length of string lights. I chose Edison-style outdoor string lights for my DIY string light Continue reading...

a beautiful Landmann metal fire pit on a base of concrete blocks

Since my state has shut down because of the pandemic, my family has mostly been sheltering at home. I've been trying to make being at home as enjoyable as possible for my husband and daughters. I recently purchased a Landmann Antique Bronze Fire Pit from Amazon, and since then, we have been enjoying evenings around the fire pit in our backyard together. Our fire pit was a great purchase! I had my eyes on this Landmann Antique Bronze Fire Pit for a while. One day I saw that the Amazon price had dropped on the fire pit. After consulting with my husband, we immediately ordered it! This fire Continue reading...

July 3, 2020 By Lauren

woman playing a game of corn hole

With the Coronavirus on the increase, it's unlikely that my family and I will be traveling for summer vacation. Even if my family doesn't go away this summer, there are ways to have fun -- even if it's just in our own backyard. I am hoping to have lots of summer backyard fun with my family! Roast Hot Dogs & S'Mores This weekend, we won't be going to a cookout with family and friends. But we might enjoy some time around our new fire pit. I recently purchased a Landmann fire pit(at 50% off ) from Amazon. Eventually I would like to build a DIY paver fire pit around our metal Continue reading...
