Thanks to OLIVIKO for gifting me my new salt and pepper mill. All opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own.

When making a meal, it’s often the little things that elevates a dish from the everyday to simply amazing. Lately, I’ve been adding extra flavor to my cooking, thanks to my new OLIVIKO Olive Wood Salt & Pepper Mill. Instead of sprinkling pre-ground pepper that’s been sitting in a tin for months, I freshly grind whole peppercorns for an instant dash of flavor to my food. I love the natural look that it lends to my kitchen!

With a turn of a dial, I can easily adjust the coarseness of my pepper from fine to coarse, depending on what my recipe requires. And while I prefer to use my OLIVIKO mill for pepper, it’s also great for grinding sea salt and dried spices and herbs. I might want to get an additional one for sea salt—I’ve discovered that the type of table salt that I purchase contains a food additive to prevent it from caking. I’d prefer to use plain, all-natural salt on my food.

My 9-inch, CrushGrind Ceramic pepper mill, made by a Canadian company, is amazingly handcrafted from a single block of solid Mediterranean olive wood; every pepper grinder crafted by OLIVIKO is unique and one of a kind. The wood is naturally resistant to odors and bacteria and is finished with a food-safe oil.

My pepper mill is easy to care for: I occasionally wipe it with a damp cloth, then dry it with a clean towel. It shouldn’t be soaked or put in the dishwasher. I can also occasionally treat the wood with food-grade mineral oil—the kind used for cutting boards—to keep it conditioned and prevent it from drying out or cracking.

Having fresh pepper on hand is great for my eggs and fresh salads, two of my favorite meals.

OLIVIKO offers other great natural products, too, like beautiful wood cutting boards, a handy magnetic-close salt box and a Mediterranean mortar and pestle set.
