I have always loved basketball. As a kid, I played on community teams, was a team captain, and as a first-year student, tried out for my high school’s basketball team.
I went to the first tryout, but I let self-doubt keep me from attending the second. Looking back, I wish I’d gone!
These days, I can play whenever I want thanks to my new IGL portable basketball hoop. It’s easy to set up on the driveway, by the curb, or even on my patio—which is where I placed mine. Now I have my own backyard basketball setup where I can shoot hoops anytime, enjoy a little exercise, and make the most of my outdoor space.
Easy Assembly: Setting Up My IGL Portable Basketball Hoop

I asked my husband to assemble my new IGL basketball hoop. I’m great at crafting and gardening, but he’s the expert at putting things together!
I stayed to help because the 70-pound kit is easier and safer to assemble with two people.
My husband found the instructions easy to follow, the parts clearly labeled, and all the necessary tools included.
It took him about four hours to assemble the kit, although the hot weather meant we needed a few water breaks along the way.
We ran into a hiccup during assembly. One of the washers was tucked inside the cylinder of an included tool, so we spent some time searching for it. Luckily, it fell out when my husband picked up the tool.
Additionally, after assembling the kit, we had some trouble loosening the base’s screw-on cap so we could fill it with sand. (The base can be filled with either water or sand for added stability.) Neither my husband nor I could get it to budge at first.

The next day, I found a simple trick that worked perfectly. I heated water to about 100 degrees and poured it over the IGL portable basketball kit’s cap. After covering the cap with a dish towel and giving it a few gentle taps with a hammer, the cap loosened easily and I was able to unscrew it.
The next weekend, my husband helped me fill the base with sand since the kit needs to be tipped to fill the base. The kit and its base are too heavy for me to safely tip and fill on my own, and we calculated that it would need three bags of sand (154 lbs) for stability.
Since we didn’t have a funnel, I came up with a simple workaround: I cut the bottom off a plastic half-gallon iced tea container and used it to guide the sand into the base. It made the process much easier.
Portable Basketball Net Kit for All Ages

My new basketball hoop kit is built for convenience and durability. The all-weather frame can remain outdoors year-round, while the wheels make it easy to move around my patio.

The crank system adjusts the hoop from 10 feet to 5.2 feet, so players of all ages can enjoy the game. The durable 47 x 30-inch shatterproof backboard provides reliable performance.
The rebound plate returns missed shots, so I spend more time playing and less time chasing the ball.

But I do get a fair number of shots in the basket!

I decorated with potted flowers to add extra beauty to my new basketball space.

Both of my kids are visiting soon, so I’m looking forward to shooting some hoops with them. I know they’ll love my new basketball kit!
