DIY Holiday Village for Christmas

December 14, 2015 By Lauren

WOW — I can’t believe that Christmas is nearly here! My kids and I have always wanted a holiday Christmas snow village, but all those holiday village pieces (the cute houses, etc.) are SO expensive! So, I decided that my daughters and I could make our own holiday village.

My daughters and I started out by buying little unfinished wood houses at our local craft store. The houses were inexpensive. I bought spray paint for the houses that I thought would look like snow, but the spray paint just added a light glittery look to the houses. We topped out houses with cotton ball “snow” instead. My daughters each made a cute snowman out of cotton balls to sit in front of their houses. I think their little snowmen look great!

Mini Christmas Trees

My daughters and I each made a mini Christmas tree for our village. We made the trees by hot gluing pieces of felt onto small foam cones.

Everyone’s tree came out differently! I love how each tree has it’s own unique look.

This Christmas village with DIY foam cone Christmas trees is easy and fun to make!

This is such a cute & fun project, Lauren. I need to do this next year with my kids. I’d love to see how different our “trees” come out! You’re right, those holiday villages can be so pricey!

Such a cute idea! I love it, Lauren. I made some rosette trees last Christmas and I just love those felt trees you made!
