My tween daughters and I recently had a fun movie night! The kids and I saw Hotel Transylvania in the movie theater, so I recently purchased them a copy of Hotel Transylvania 2 at my local Walmart so they can see the second movie!
The flick is an animated action-adventure movie that centers around Dracula, his friends and his half human, half vampire, grandson!
Family Movie Night
For my movie night with my kids, I decided to make a chocolate Coca-Cola cake. I love making Coca-Cola cake — it is really quite easy and quick! The recipe, which I found on Coca-Cola’s website, is almost as easy to put together as a cake recipe from a box!
I served a big pop-up bowl of Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn with the cake. I can pop up the popcorn right in my microwave!
I found all the supplies for my family’s movie night — Hotel Transylvania 2, Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn, M&M’S Chocolate Candies and Coca-Cola — at my local Walmart.
The Hotel Transylvania 2 Blu-Ray/DVD was in the movie section in the back of the Walmart store.
I just had to pick up a package of Orville Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Butter Popcorn to go with the movie! (After all, for me, a movie isn’t a movie without some buttery popcorn!)
I also picked up a six-pack of Coca-Cola, the soda favorite in my household.
My family and I are fans of both regular M&M’S® Chocolate Candies and Peanut M&M’S Chocolate Candies, so I picked up both! (I love these cute snack-sized containers … I am already thinking of how I can repurpose them for a project!)
Chocolate Coca-Cola Cake
I used some of the Coca-Cola I purchased and M&M’S® Chocolate Candies to make the chocolate Coca-Cola cake. My kids totally loved it! My kids said my cake was much better than a cake from a box! (I often use a boxed mix when I want to bake a quick cake.) My tweens and I used the M&M’S® Chocolate Candies to top our cake, and had a slice of cake AND popcorn while watching the movie!
To make this delicious and light chocolate Coca-Cola cake, check out my recipe card at the end of this post!

- 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ Cup butter
- 3 Tablespoons cocoa
