In three weeks, my kids will be back to school. My daughters are in middle school and will have a full schedule with cross country practices, music lessons and homework. My daughters were hoping to get into shape for the fall sports season this summer, but with day after day of high heat advisories, they weren’t able to get much running in. That means we can expect aches and pains this fall sports season when cross country starts. I have a plan in place for how we’ll stay on top of everything this fall, and thought I’d share them with you.
Today I’d like to share how to tackle those fall aches and pains and stay organized!
Be Prepared. Getting ready early is key for having a smooth back to fall sports season. We all know that when kids or adults are training for a sport, injuries will happen. In anticipation of aches and pains this fall, I went to my local Target and stocked up on Ultra Strength BENGAY® Cream, Children’s MOTRIN® and MOTRIN® IB. These medicines are great at soothing aches and pains. My kids are bound to experience sore muscles during the first few days of cross country practice. I have already been using the BENGAY® Cream. I had bunion surgery last summer, and my foot hasn’t healed completely yet. I tend to favor that foot. As a result, I often have achy muscles in the opposite leg from overuse. The BENGAY® Cream gives me relief from my achy leg muscles.
When my foot and my leg really ache, I also find MOTRIN® IB to relieve my pain fast.
Get Organized. Staying organized is important for managing the the fall sports season’s aches and pains. Until recently, I kept our family’s medicines in our kitchen cabinets. I could never find anything! Earlier this year I converted a coat closet into a pantry. I added a plastic storage container in the pantry for medicine. Everything is now easy to find when aches and pains arise.
The cubby is big enough to hold everything we need.
I have a chalkboard calendar on one wall of the pantry that I use to note when someone takes a dose of medicine. When my kids both need medicine, it can be tough to remember who had what when. That’s when the chalkboard calendar comes in handy.
I keep our box of medicines on the top shelf of my family’s new pantry.
Take It on the Go. During a sport’s season, it’s smart to carry needed pain relievers with you should your child need it after practice or at a game or meet. Injuries can come up quickly with sports.
I often find myself running across fields during my children’s cross country meets so I can see their performance during the race. When I get ready for my kids’ cross country meets, I pack a pair of sneakers for myself and Children’s MOTRIN® for my daughters and MOTRIN® IB for me. Children’s MOTRIN® is a good choice for my kids because it lasts up to 8 hours. It’s also what I choose for my kids when they come down with a fever.
I easily found the MOTRIN® IB in the pain relief aisle at Target.
The Children’s MOTRIN® was in the aisle at Target where children’s medicines are.
I located the Ultra Strength BENGAY® Cream in the first aid aisle.
Get positively prepared with the right pain relief for you and your family at Target.

Do your girls wear New Balance shoes too? I really like Brooks for myself, but my kids like Nike. I too have a medicine tubby that I keep up high, but I should get another one or a bigger one as its filled up already! I really like the idea of writing down when they get doses of medicines on the chalkboard. It really can be hard to remember with two kids!

My kids actually wear Nike. But because of my wide foot (even after my bunion surgery), I wear New Balance, which has a wider toe. The chalkboard is really helpful for helping me to remember who got what — especially when more than one person is taking medicine.

I can see a lot of yard work in my future too. I will need to stock up on pain relief. #client
