Welcome to the Taste Creations Blog Hop! Once a month, my blogging friends and I get together to feature an ingredient and to share our recipes. This month’s ingredient is peppermint, so we are all featuring peppermint recipes. One of my daughters loves peppermint patties, so I decided to make homemade peppermints patties!

Until recently, I had no idea how easy it is to make these delicious and minty treats! These candies require no baking and can be put together in minutes! They also make excellent holiday gifts.

My recipe, which requires only 5 ingredients, is from Butter with a Side of Bread.

How to Make Homemade Peppermint Patties

This recipe for homemade peppermint patties is easy, but really delicious! I love making these for the holidays.

Peppermint Patty Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1-2 tsp peppermint extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 cups dipping chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips (if you don’t have dipping chocolate, you can melt chocolate chips in the microwave and stir in a little cooking oil.)
  • Sprinkles of your choice

Supplies

Mixer

mixing bowl

Sheet pan

Parchment paper
Winton dipping tool or fork

This is the best and simplest recipe for peppermint patties

Peppermint Patty Directions

    1. Combine butter, corn syrup, peppermint extract and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix with an electric mixer for about 3 minutes, until ingredients are well combined and hold together.
    2. Remove dough from the bowl and break off about 2 teaspoon-sized sections. Roll the dough into a ball and gently flatten each with your hands. Put patties on a pan lined with parchment paper. When all the patties are made, place the pan in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
    3. Melt chocolate in the microwave for up to a minute. Remove and gently stir. If chocolate needs to be melted some more, microwave it for a few seconds more. Take peppermint patties out of the freezer. Use a fork or a handy Winton Dipping tool to dip each patty in the chocolate. Flip each patty to coat the other side. Then tap the patty to remove any excess. Transfer chocolate coated patties to parchment paper to cool. If you like, top with sprinkles.
    4. Store the mint patties in an airtight container. Refrigerate if preferred. (I like them best cold.) Makes 40 mints.

I’ve never made peppermint patties before! I have made little thumbprint mints in molds, though. These look so delicious and I love the holiday decor around them!
