Years ago, when my twins—now both young adults and living in another state—were tweens, I created a simple tween chore chart to help our household run more smoothly. That printable ended up being one of the most popular resources on Mom Home Guide. So I decided it was time to make a new printable tween chore chart!
This new version is easier to use, a lot more colorful and maybe even more practical.
How Kids Benefit from Completing Chores
Giving tweens regular chores isn’t just about getting them to help around the house. Assigning your kids age-appropriate responsibilities and having them track them on a chore chartf can teach them accountability and time management skills. Chores can also allow kids to develop useful life skills they’ll need once on their own. Tasks like doing laundry, cleaning their room, wiping a bathroom sink and taking out the trash might seem simple. But learning how to handle these responsibilities early on can help your child build confidence and independence.

To make this chore chart more motivating for your kids, assign points to each complete chore. Your tween can then redeem those points for rewards, privileges or a small allowance. A points system can help them learn the value of setting goals and working steadily toward them. If you tie points to money, it can teach them important financial skills too.
They’ll also learn about saving, budgeting and making thoughtful spending decisions. Plus, as they grow older, they’ll appreciate having a little spending money. They’ll also value the chance to save up for something on their wish list.

By connecting effort with rewards, your child will gain a better understanding of responsibility and the satisfaction that comes from earning something on their own.
