Now that my daughters are tweens, we really enjoy doing arts & crafts and baking projects together! So, for the holiday season, I came up with a fun project that combines the creativity of an arts & craft project with a recipe that we can create in the kitchen together!
For our project, I gathered some Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles cereal. Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles have been a favorite among families for years! (Even back when I was a kid!) My kids don’t remember The Flintstones, but I used to watch the cartoon as a kid! My kids do like The Flintstones characters on our Pebbles cereal boxes, though!
My kids love using our collection of cookie cutters during the holidays, so I decided to use our cookie cutters to create fun Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles cereal bars!
One daughter loves the fruity taste and eye-popping colors of Fruity Pebbles, and the other likes the chocolate taste of Cocoa Pebbles, so I decided to use both those cereals for our cereal bars.
Making the cereal bars was a cinch! All we did was melt some butter and marshmallows on low heat on the stove. We then stirred in our Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles (in separate batches).
Once our marshmallow melt and our cereal was well mixed, we spread out our marshmallow-cereal combinations in glass baking dishes.
We used a cookie cutter (with a knife to cut away the excess cereal) to create our cereal shapes. Making our Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles cereal bars was super easy and fun! (For more detailed instructions, check out the recipe below.)
We liked our treats so much that we cooked up a second batch. This time, we brought out some icing, marshmallows and candy, and decorated our Pebbles cereal bars to look like Christmas wreaths!
This is a closer look at our iced and decorated Pebbles cereal treats!
