Happy Wednesday, everyone! This week is flying by! My husband, kids and I returned earlier this week from a quick one-night trip to Crystal Springs Resort. This gorgeous resort is located in the rolling farmlands of New Jersey’s northwest, about 2 hours from our home and 1 hour from New York City.
We have been enjoying a family staycation this week, doing fun activities close to home. Check out the related posts below for family staycation ideas! My family and I love enjoying nearby getaways over the summer!
My family and I stayed in a wonderful suite in Grand Cascades Lodge — one of the luxury properties in Crystal Springs. The lodge is breathtaking, and our suite was extraordinary! My kids and I especially loved our suite’s balcony, which featured beautiful views of some of the resort’s gorgeous gardens.
This is another look at my family’s lovely hotel suite:
As soon as we got there, my family and I headed for the 10,000 square foot Tropical Biosphere Pool Complex at Grand Cascades Lodge. My kids and I loved the biosphere! The complex features multiple indoor and outdoor pools, an indoor aquarium, beautiful plantings, hot tubs and a really fun water slide!
I loved the outdoor pool, which had beautiful flowers and plantings surrounding it, plus a waterfall! When we first went into the outdoor pool, there were beautiful purple flowers (from the nearby plantings) floating in the pool. My kids loved swimming near the pool’s waterfall!
After we all swam for a while, we retreated to the outdoor hot tub, which is warm, but not too hot for younger children.
Family Dining at Kites Restaurant
For dinner, my family and I took the resort’s shuttle bus to the nearby Kites restaurant at the Minerals Hotel. My kids and I enjoyed margharita pizzettes (with basil, fresh mozzarella and tomato), while my husband had the 12-ounce New York Strip Steak. We also shared orders of sweet potato fries, french fries, fried calamari and pork steam buns. We were planning to have dessert, but we couldn’t fit in another bite. Plus — I enjoyed a margarita on the rocks (my favorite)!
When we went back to the outdoor pool in the morning, my kids were happy to see that a HUGE outdoor chess set was ready for playing! They played a few moves before jumping into the pool!
We wish we had more time to enjoy the fabulous Crystal Springs Resort! The resort includes 3 upscale lodging properties; six award-winning golf courses; 2 luxury spas; the 135,000 bottle wine cellar of Restaurant Latour; an Adventure Center with archery, hiking, canoeing, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, water trampoline and lounges; and horseback riding in a mountaintop setting with a pristine lake.
