I love making breakfast for my daughters on school mornings — even if that means getting up at 6 a.m.! On the first day of school, it’s especially important that I make a yummy breakfast for my kids. Putting extra effort into my kids’ breakfasts is a way I show them how much I care. For this school year, I’ve already come up with the first day of school morning meal I’ll prepare for my kids — a fun and unique breakfast bar!
For the breakfast bar, I decided to use three different Jimmy Dean® frozen breakfast products: Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage, Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links and Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Patties. For someone who spends a fair amount of time cooking my kids’ breakfast every morning, these Jimmy Dean® breakfast foods are a welcome time saver — they can be quickly heated up in the microwave. (That means no messy pots or pans to clean!) After I warm up the Jimmy Dean® breakfast foods, I just toss the dish I used into the dishwasher.
What’s cool about the Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage is that they come on a stick and look like a corn dog — which got an enthusiastic thumbs up from my kids. Plus, my daughters love the taste of pancakes with sausage.
Back to School Breakfast Bar Ingredients
Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage
Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links
Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Patties
Syrup (I used real maple syrup but fruit-flavored syrup would be great, too)
Mixed berries (I used frozen blackberries, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries that I warmed in the microwave)
Jam (I used raspberry jam)
Mini Marshmallows
Whipped Cream
My kids adore it when they can customize their meals with their own toppings, so a breakfast bar where they can pick what to top their meal with is a great choice. The first day of school can be stressful and hectic — a quick way to prepare a breakfast bar is the way to go.
I gave my breakfast bar idea a test run one afternoon this month when my girls were in camp. It was delicious! I went all out and topped my Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage, Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links and Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Patties with warm maple syrup. I also added a heap of warm berries topped with whipped cream and mini marshmallows. Such a treat!
I can’t wait to serve my delicious breakfast bar to my kids on their first day of school. I’ve already thought of more items to add to the breakfast bar, like chocolate chips, sprinkles (chocolate and rainbow) and powdered sugar. I may as well go all out to celebrate my daughters’ first day of school!
I’ll soon be heading to my local Walmart to get more Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage, Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links and Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Patties. The Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage are easy to find in my Walmart’s refrigerated breakfast food section.
The Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links and Fully Cooked Patties are found in the refrigerated section where sausages and bacon can be found.
I have a feeling my new breakfast bar idea will be a favorite school morning tradition in my home!
