Today I am sharing an AMAZING chocolate chip recipe as part of a new series, Tasty Tuesday, on Mom Home Guide. On Tuesdays, I will be sharing recipes for some of my favorite meals and treats.

My absolute favorite cookies are chocolate chip cookies. When my daughters and I make chocolate chip cookies, there is one recipe that we use. It’s a recipe for “The Very Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever.” The recipe is in the book, The Greatest Cookies Ever: Dozens of Delicious, Chewy, Chunky, Fun & Foolproof Recipes by Rose Dunnington. It’s a book that my dad gave me several years ago, when my now teenaged daughters were just tots.

My daughters and I agree — the cookie recipes in this cookbook are the best ever, and we LOVE these chocolate chip cookies! A big plus, too, is that only a few ingredients (that we usually have on hand) are required, and the cookies are incredibly easy to make.
This drop cookie recipe only requires a handful of ingredients, and can be put together in about 20-30 minutes. (Including the time needed to let your butter soften.)

I think the key to this recipe is that it uses equal parts of regular granulated sugar and brown sugar.
How to Make the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever
(recipe by Rose Dunnington)
Equipment
Spoon
Optional: Silicone baking sheet (or you can grease your baking sheets)
Ingredients
1 stick softened butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup flour
1 cup chocolate chips
This recipe couldn’t be easier. You simply cream (or mix) the white and brown sugars with the butter in your mixer. (I use a KitchenAid stand mixer.) You then add in the egg and vanilla and mix well.
In a separate mixing bowl, you mix the flour, baking soda and salt. You add this dry mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, and mix them together in your mixer. Then add the chocolate chips, mix it all in your mixer, and you have your chocolate chip cookies dough!
Then you just drop the spoon-sized cookie dough balls on prepared baking sheets (I covered my sheets each with a silicone baking mat) and bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes in an oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Let the cookies cook (I cooled mine on baking cooling racks) and enjoy!
I made a batch of these best ever chocolate chip cookies yesterday, and they were gone before my family went to sleep for the night!
