Gardening can be one of the most rewarding and relaxing hobbies you’ll ever try—it’s one of my favorite hobbies! But, it can take a lot of time and effort. It’s natural to want to make gardening easier, which presents a conundrum. You want it to be easier, but you’ll still want your garden to look amazing.
You might think you’ll have to compromise on something. While that can sometimes be the case, it doesn’t always have to be.
Instead, it could just be a matter of using the right gardening tips. Some of these could have much more of an impact than many people think. They’ll take a decent bit of time, effort, and even stress out of it for you. At the same time, they’ll help make sure your garden looks as amazing as possible.
Let’s dive into these helpful gardening tips.
Keep the Design Simple
The design of your garden plays an inherent role in how much time and effort it takes to look after. Putting your design into practice can take a lot of effort. That’s why it could be worth keeping it simple. It’ll remove a lot of the work your garden needs.
That doesn’t have to mean your garden looks bad. Simple designs can often be just as visually appealing—if not more appealing—than their more complicated counterparts. For the sake of making your gardening easier, it’s more than worth keeping it simple.
Invest in the Right Tools
You’ll need more than a few tools when you’re gardening. Many of these will be relatively obvious, like a lawnmower. Don’t skimp on these if you want to take your garden seriously. You’re much better off investing in them from the start. There are plenty of reasons for this.
For starters, they’ll let you get everything done quickly and easily. With the right ones, you might even take a lot of time and hassle out of the process for you. Quality gardening tools will also last you much longer, so you shouldn’t have to replace them anytime soon. It’s worth it. Plus, spring is an awesome time to get new gardening tools, as many are on sale. For one, I’d like to get a lawnmower and perhaps stop paying for my lawn service—doing my own lawn will be satisfying and might even help get more fit!
Pick Long-Lasting Combinations

It’s natural to want to have quite a few plants and flowers around your garden. While these look amazing, many of them can die off quickly. You’ll end up needing to tear them out and replace them often. At least, that’s the case with some options. Unfortunately, I don’t often get to cleaning up my garden, so when my flowers stop blooming, it can look like a mess!
By going for long-lasting options instead, you could reduce your time and effort. Many of these will even end up looking just as nice—if not better—than flowers that need to be replaced often. It’s more than worth making the switch to take some effort out of it. My absolute favorites are cut-and-come again zinnias. I planted them last summer, and enjoyed beautiful cut flowers for my home all summer long! (These are the zinnia seeds I used.)
Add Some Mulch

Some of the more time-consuming parts of gardening are weeding and watering. These can often be a bit of a hassle, too. Thankfully, that doesn’t have to mean you need to spend a significant amount of time and effort into it. There are more than a few ways you can make this easier for yourself.
One of the more notable of these is adding mulch to your garden. Doing this can add a lot of moisture to your soil, benefitting your plants and flowers. It even makes the likelihood of weeds much lower. While it takes time to put down, it’ll save you time and effort in the long run.
Make the Lawn Easier to Cut

Trimming your lawn can often be time-consuming, especially with larger gardens. Thankfully, there are a few ways to make it easier. One of the best ways to make your lawn easier to cut is to install a permanent edge. This makes it easier to cut around the edges without much of a hassle.
There are plenty of ways to do this while still making your garden look nice. Bricks and paving stones can be some of the more appealing of these. There’s no reason not to put them down around your lawn.
As much as you’ll enjoy gardening, you might think it takes too much time and effort. That’s especially true when you have a relatively large garden. It doesn’t need to be as much of a hassle as you might think it has to be.
You can make gardening easier by using the right gardening tips . Even better, you’ll end up needing to put in less time and effort, and your garden will look amazing!
