Twin College Move Ins – and a NewAir Compact Refrigerator Review

September 1, 2021 By Lauren

Thanks to NewAir for sponsoring this post. I received a NewAir compact fridge (SKU NRF031BK00) in exchange for this review.  @newairusa, #ShareYourNewAir, #Beveragefridge, #newairusa, #newairexclusive, #newairambassador, #mynewair

black stainless NewAir mini refrigerator
This NewAir mini refrigerator is perfect for the dorm room my firstie shares with two roommates. (I took photos of the fridge at home with some Bryn Mawr mementos from when I attended the college before moving the fridge to campus.)

My twins moved into college last week. One started at Bryn Mawr College (where I went to college), and one began at Smith College. It was an emotional week, filled with highs and lows. Now I have a house empty of my two sweet kids. Luckily, however, I saw one of my children over the weekend, as my husband and I brought a new Newair 3.1 Cu. Ft. Compact Mini Refrigerator with Freezer, Auto Defrost, and Can Dispenser ($249.99) over for our kid to share with our student’s two roommates at Bryn Mawr.

My husband got us an inexpensive hand truck so we could more easily move the NewAir compact refrigerator into the dorm.

My husband moved the NewAir fridge into our firstie’s dorm, Erdman. (The same dorm where I lived most of my junior and senior years of college.)

My Bryn Mawr firstie really loves kombuchas and fresh fruits and veggies, so it will be really nice to have a fridge in the room.

The compact 3.1 cubic foot NewAir mini fridge with freezer has two large glass shelves in the refrigerator section.

There are glass shelves and lots of room in my firstie’s compact NewAir fridge.

The crisper drawer in this fridge is rather large, so there will be lots of room to place fresh fruits and veggies.

There is space in the door of the compact NewAir 3.1 cubic foot refrigerator for cans of soda or sparkling water, plus larger bottles.

The door of the large 3.1 cubic foot mini refrigerator has a can dispenser, which one of my firstie’s roommates has already filled with some cold drinks. The door also has a space for tall bottles.

I was surprised at how large the freezer is in this refrigerator! I think there is plenty of room for at least each roomie in my firstie’s dorm room to store a pint of frozen yogurt or ice cream! The freezer also has auto defrost.

My firstie’s NewAir compact refrigerator has plenty of room for frozen yogurts, ice cream and other treats.

I think the new black stainless finish on the fridge is a great look. I am sure it won’t show as many fingerprints as normal stainless steel does.

My firstie decorated the fridge once we got it set up in the room. We placed the compact refrigerator in an empty corner in the triple that my student shares with two roommates.

My firstie decorated the NewAir compact fridge with a white board and a college mug in the 2025 class color.

I love how my student decorated the top of the NewAir compact refrigerator with the white board she decorated with “Dorm Sweet Dorm” and the Bryn Mawr College hashtags, #anassakata and #babyred. (Anassa Kata is a Bryn Mawr cheer, and #babyred is the hashtag my student’s class is using — their class color is red, as was mine at Bryn Mawr!)

We were worried we wouldn’t find room in my student’s triple for the compact 3.1 cubic foot NewAir mini fridge with freezer — the triple has three beds and three desks, after all.

My firstie’s compact NewAir refrigerator gets a lot of fridge space in a small space.

Luckily, there is a corner in the room that seems almost perfectly made to house the spacious NewAir compact refrigerator!

I showed photos of my firstie’s NewAir compact refrigerator to some of the friends I went to college with at Bryn Mawr. They say that it’s the biggest dorm room fridge they’ve ever seen! My firstie’s fridge will be very popular, they say!

The fridge will come in handy for sure! It does look very spacious. Good luck to both your daughters in their first year of college and beyond!

That is the perfect size refrigerator for a dorm or small apartment. I like the rack in the door for cans of water or soda. Looks like your student had a great niche for putting the fridge. Wishing your babies a happy, productive school year. Glad you have your new job to ease you into the empty nest.
