My tween daughters always make me smile — especially when they come home with stellar report cards! To celebrate their hard work, I decided to do something extra sweet and fun for them. So, a few hours before they came home from school one day, I popped some sliced bananas into the freezer so the kids and I could prepare some fun and delicious frozen banana bites together when they got home from school!
I sliced the pointed tips off my bananas so the banana pieces would be flat on both the top and the bottom.
Just before my kids were due to walk through the door, I took the frozen bananas out of the freezer. I also got out my collection of sprinkles and colored sugars, and some whipped cream. I poured a few chocolate chips into a bowl and heated them in the microwave for less than a minute. The chips didn’t look completely melted when I took them out of the microwave, but all I needed to do was stir them to distribute the heat throughout the chips and melt them thoroughly.
When my daughters got home, I let them get started! All they needed to do was dip the bananas in the melted chocolate, sprinkle some colored sugar or sprinkles on them, and top them with sour cream!
My girls had a blast making these frozen banana bites, and especially enjoyed eating them! My kitchen table was a bit messy after our frozen banana bite extravaganza, but the enjoyment that my daughters shared was certainly worth the mess! Frozen banana bites are certainly a fun after-school treat and activity for kids!
