Scrapbook Paper Gift Tags

written by Lauren

I am a big scrapbooker and have been working feverishly to get this year's scrapbook of family photos completed! Since scrapbook paper is so pretty, I always save my paper scraps in case I can use them for something someday. Well, while watching the finale of The Voice with my daughters last night on TV, I figured out how to use all those scraps -- I converted some of them into pretty scrapbook gift tags for all the gifts I have yet to wrap! (LOL) With only three days of school left before the winter holiday, I decided to let my kids bring in their teacher gifts today -- but we needed Continue reading...

7 Christmas Advent Calendars

written by Lauren

seven, advent, calendar, craft

I just love advent calendars. Since I've created my gift box advent calendar for my kids, I've been noticing other really great advent calendars from other blogs. I'd love to create one of these other advent calendars and add to the fun my kids and I have been having with our advent calendar! Gift Box Advent Calendar To create my family's advent calendar, I gathered some of the mini gift boxes I've saved over the years. I used some scrapbook paper to decorate the boxes, and either hand numbered them or used number stickers to number each box. In each box, I placed special treats Continue reading...

Christmas Advent Calendar Boxes

written by Lauren

Now that December is here, my kids absolutely cannot wait for Christmas! So, I came up with the idea of creating cute numbered advent calendar boxes -- my kids can open one up each day as we count down to Christmas. Yesterday, I created a few advent calendar boxes, for 23, 22, 21, 20 and 19 days until Christmas. I'll eventually add the other boxes as we get closer to Christmas! In each box, I nestled yummy treats, stickers, and  other fun finds. They opened the 23 days until Christmas box yesterday to find a large piece of bubble gum each. They were happy to get the gum! I got my Continue reading...

Thankful Banner – Giving Thanks

written by Lauren

thankful, banner, fireplace banner, thanksgiving, decor, decoration

As busy moms, we can sometimes forget to take the time to think just how much we have to be thankful for. We get so wrapped up in our families' busy schedules, that we don't take a moment to step back and look at the big picture. So, as Thanksgiving nears, I wanted to start a project for my family that will not only add some fun holiday color to our home, but will help us to realize how lucky we are to have each other, our home, our kids' school, our community, and more. Thanksgiving Thankful Banner I've seen Thanksgiving thankful banners on Continue reading...

Crafty Wine Glass Charms

written by Lauren

DIY, craft wine glass charms

I love wine glass charms -- they add a little whimsy to a party or a moms' night out, and they make it so much easier to distinguish whose glass is whose (especially after a few glasses have been poured and enjoyed). But, wine glass charms can be pricey -- "Ladies Night Wine Class Charms" from Wine Enthusiast sell for $24.95 -- plus, it can be difficult to find charms I like. So, when I saw some cute and simple charms in the jewelry section at my local craft store at the low price of $2.50 for 6, I scooped them up. I also then bought some earring hoops/findings (with rhinestone accents) Continue reading...

Essential Scrapbook Supplies

K & Company Scrapbook Kit

I am a mom who treasures every moment I spend with my children. Because the moments I spend are so important to me, a big hobby of mine is scrapbooking. The past few years I have been into digital scrapbooking and photo books that I create online, but I just recently, I have picked up my scissors and scrapbooking tools again and have gotten back into traditional scrapbooking! It's been fun! The past few weeks I have been working on scrapbooking my family's photos from this year. I started from January and have worked my way to September 2013 so far. I generally adhere a few Continue reading...

DIY Jewelry Organizer

written by Lauren

diy picture frame jewelry organizer

I've seen a lot of DIY jewelry organizers on Pinterest and on other blogs, and I love them. So, when I was at the dollar store the other day and saw the materials I needed to make my own DIY jewelry organizer, I snapped them up. First, I picked up a simple $1 black document frame with silver trim. Then, I found some silver thumbtacks, also for $1. I figured that the thumbtacks would add a little bling to my DIY picture frame jewelry hanger. MY DIY Jewelry Organizer Later that day, while catching some TV with one of my daughters, I decided to get started on my picture frame jewelry Continue reading...

Rainbow Loom Organization

written by Lauren

tackle box, organize, rainbow loom

The rainbow loom craze has hit my home! I love that my daughters are having so much fun crafting their rainbow loom bracelets, but I soon discovered that we seriously needed something to organize all of my children's rainbow loom supplies! We used to keep my kids' rainbow loom rubber bands in one big plastic takeout container, but that system didn't work too well. All of my kids' different rubber band colors were all jumbled together in that container, so sorting out the colors that they needed was a long process for my kids! Rainbow Loom Rubber Bands Organized I found the Continue reading...

Halloween Boo Grams

written by Lauren

Halloween boogram

It’s that season again – it’s almost time to “boo” the neighbors! We started a little Halloween  tradition two years ago in our neighborhood where kids and families take turns “booing” each other, secretly leaving fun packages of treats, toys and goodies and a Halloween boo gram (a cute Halloween note) by a neighbor’s door. I've also created some free boo grams to share! My family is to the tradition, but Halloween "booing" and boo grams are popular in many neighborhoods across the country. Booing the neighbors is sort of like “Secret Santa,” where the gift Continue reading...

Editor's Note: This is a popular post on Mom Home Guide, so I am republishing it for all of Mom Home Guide's new readers. Welcome, new readers! Lately, I've been noticing beautiful stenciled burlap curtains and projects on Pinterest and on other blogs. I especially like the stenciled burlap pillows that I found on blog, Ugly Duckling Transformations -- beautiful! So I decided to make a stenciled burlap curtain for my home's downstairs bathroom -- the bathroom that guests to our home usually see. Stenciled burlap pillows by Ugly Duckling Transformations. Faux Stenciled Burlap Continue reading...
