My kids and I like to shoot hoops together. We don’t get to play together that often, though, now that they’ve moved out of state. But now that I have my new IGL Travel Hoop, we’re looking forward to playing together when they are home again for the holidays! And the next time we visit them, we will be sure to bring it along! IGL gifted me with their brand-new travel hoop before the holidays, and it is one of my favorite Christmas gifts! I try to shoot a few hoops daily for fun and exercise!

The complete basketball hoop setup comes in its own handy rolling case with a convenient, telescopic handle, and can be set up in minutes almost anywhere, inside or outside. It’s also about the size of a suitcase —which allowed me to easily roll it outside. Once I got it on my patio, my husband jumped in to give me a hand. It was quick to put together, and before long, we were shooting some baskets together!
What I love about this basketball hoop is that it is always ready to go—you don’t need to fill it with sand or water like other basketball hoops to keep it stable—but it comes a bladder that can be filled with water for extra stability. I should do that, as winds recently wrecked one of my chaise lounge chairs!
My Shih Tzu pup also likes to get into the act, trying to take the ball away from us. I think the IGL Travel Hoop will be a great way to get him some exercise since we can count on him to chase the ball whenever we play.
I set my IGL travel hoop up on my backyard patio. Now, I can shoot a few hoops whenever I want to get a few more active moments (and fun!) into my day. I have a short and narrow sloped driveway that barely fits my car and my husband’s, so it isn’t a practical spot for a basketball hoop.
The hoop adjusts to few different heights, from 4’5″ to 8’5″, so it can accommodate both kids and adults; we set ours up at the full height.
This net’s portability makes it a great option for anyone who can’t or doesn’t want to permanently install a basketball net.
Part of what makes the set up so easy is that no tools or instructions are required to put the travel hoop (which has a 15″ rim) together. Each part of the steel pole is clearly marked with large numbers (with the pole numbered 1 being the lowest pole piece). Just slip the parts together, tighten them, and add the hoop and its attached 33-inch, shatter-resistant backboard, and you’re done!
Its rolling case serves as the base for the hoop. A size 5 basketball (perfect for kids just learning the game or for smaller spaces like my patio) and hand pump are also included, so once the kit is assembled, it’s time to shoot some hoops! The hoop can also accommodate a standard men’s ball (size 7) or women’s ball (Size 6)—for Christmas, we got our full-sized basketballs and used those with our hoop, too. Our pup was so happy chasing after all the basketballs!
The wheels on the hoop’s base make it easy to position it wherever I like. For Christmas, I moved some of our patio furniture out of the way so we had more room to shoot.
I might also pack it the next time we vacation together—we usually rent a home so we have plenty of room to spread out and don’t have to worry about keeping our pup quiet.
The IGL travel hoop (packed up in its rolling case) fits into the trunk of my car with plenty of room to spare!
I have always wanted a basketball net, but have never wanted to put one in my driveway, so this portable net is perfect! I can keep it in my backyard shed when we aren’t using the hoop and roll it out when we want to play. The travel hoop is great for enjoying a lighthearted game with my family—it’s not designed for professional players or dunking.
