prep for back to school
Now that August is here, the back to school season is swiftly approaching. I can’t believe it! That means that my kids and I have to start prepping for back to school! In the interest of helping Mom Home Guide’s readers get ready for back to school, I am sharing some back to school ideas!

One of the best things I did was get a Back to School Combo for each of my daughters from Mabel’s LabelsBoth daughters chose the Stylish Scholars ComboThey both love the modern and sophisticated designs, colors and fonts and liked designing the labels on their own — all within just a few minutes!

I am glad that we have these labels — since my girls’ are twins, they tend to like the same stuff. At least, they will be able to tell whose stuff is whose now! Plus, they love to use the labels on their notebooks, books, etc. (What kid doesn’t like name labels?)

Be Ready for Back to School

Other ways my family preps for the busy back to school season is by getting our mud room area in shape,. We need to make it easy for my daughters to get to their shoes, socks and coats when we’re making the mad rush for the morning school bus! I’ve created a mini mud room area by my home’s front door by adding a coat rack, and a mini bookcase that holds bins for socks and shoes. You can check out my mini mud room here.

My kids and I also like to decorate our home for back to school. For a fireplace mantel decorating idea, check out how my kids and I decorated our fireplace mantel last year!

My kids and I are going to start planning what we want to have on hand for their school lunches, too. We plan to use the same kind of easy school lunch system we used last year, where I keep pre-packed items in the fridge (such as fruit and cheese sticks, etc.) that they can pick and put in their lunch bags.
