I am so happy that the fall season is here! I love the cooler temperatures and all the gorgeous fall colors. I love decorating my front porch for the season. My home’s front porch is tiny, and barely counts as a porch, however. So I squeeze as much decor as I can into a small space.
I am sharing my fall and Thanksgiving front porch as part of the Pinterest Challenge. Hosted every month by Erlene of My Pinterventures, this blog hop encourages us to actually tackle those recipes, projects, etc., that we pin on Pinterest. This is the pin that inspired my front porch. Today’s projects are all Thanksgiving inspired.
Thanksgiving & Fall Inspired Front Porch
A big part of my fall and Thanksgiving front porch decor is my DIY standing wooden Welcome Sign. I actually made the fall welcome porch sign for my fall and Thanksgiving front porch 3 years ago. The sign was fairly simple to make. I stained a ¼ in. x 3 ft. x 4 ft. oak board, used stencils to stencil on the letters, and used hot glue to glue on some faux acorns and burlap fall leaves. The welcome sign has been a feature of my fall front porch ever since! (Check out my fall welcome porch sign tutorial for the full details.)
Other elements on my fall and Thanksgiving front porch are a turquoise lantern, a fall mum and a scarecrow.
On my front door I added a simple fall wreath that I made by wrapping a wire wreath form with burlap ribbon and then a garland of faux fall leaves. This wreath was so quick and easy to put together! I was happy to use the faux fall leaves garland, since it has been sitting in my basement. I have the garland from the days when decorating the tops of kitchen cabinets with various garlands was popular.

Love the unexpected bits of turquoise and blue in your fall decorating. They really pop. That is an adorable sign you made. That soft yellow color in the lettering is very nice, too.

Hey, thanks a lot! Do types of paint matter? I hear there are premium paints with weather-resistant features or high-gloss finish. Was wondering if it’s worth the price.

Hi! I just used regular acrylic paint for mine. If yours is exposed to the outdoors a lot, maybe an outdoor paint might be more durable. Thanks for stopping by!
