I am loving the yellow and green placemat pillows that I made for my brand-new La-Z-Boy sofa! These sofa throw pillows were so easy to make -- I simply made them by stuffing two-sided cloth placemats with pillow stuffing! It took me only about 20 minutes to make these pillows -- I actually finished stitching them when the truck that delivered my new sofa pulled into my driveway! Talk about last minute! Simple Placemat Pillows I love how the yellow and white and green and white and yellow pillows add pops of color to the sofa. I also adore the edging around the pillows -- I didn't Continue reading...

Painted Craft Birdhouses
Monday was my kids' first day back to school after a week with the flu. My husband, kids and I all got a bad case of the flu this month, even though we all got our flu shots! Having the kids home for a whole week got a little tough at the end. Even though my kids were under the weather, they were starting to get bored! Luckily, I had some craft supplies and a box of acrylic craft paints on hand, and my daughters and I spent a fun afternoon together painting birdhouses! The birdhouses and paints are relatively inexpensive and can be found at just about any craft store. DIY Painted Continue reading...
Happy Spring Crafts
I can't tell you how happy I am that it is now spring! The winter was a tough one for my family, what with my broken wrist and my family's recent bout of the flu. Here's hoping for a healthy and happy spring! New Spring Flowers When I was outside today, I was thrilled to see that some of my flowers are beginning to poke up through the soil. It looks like my tulips are starting to grow, and some of my flowers in my southern exposure garden are starting to break through the soil, too! My family is just starting to get better from the flu, so I wasn't able to tackle any Continue reading...
“Tweet” Burlap and Chevron Wreath
I am so excited that spring starts this month! So, I just had to get started on crafting new spring décor for my home. I first got started by making a spring wreath for my house. My kids and I have been enjoying watching the birds eat at a feeder we placed just outside our home’s living room window this winter. I knew that I wanted my spring wreath to look a little bit like a bird’s nest, since my daughters and I are such big birdwatchers! I thought a grapevine wreath would work perfectly for my project, since grapevine wreaths are relatively inexpensive, look pretty much like birds’ Continue reading...
New Living Room Design
A new sofa is due to arrive soon for my home’s living room, so I have been working on designing a new living room design scheme for our "new" living room! With the exception of a piano and some toy chests, our living room has never had much in it -- it's always been more of an open play space for the kids! Modern Living Room Design Now that my kids spend more time reading on their Kindles and playing games on their Ipods, I've decided that it's time to take back the living room! I would like to take down the heavy drapes and replace them with something more fun and colorful, Continue reading...

DIY St. Patricks Day Flag
Now that St. Patricks Day is coming up, I'm getting ready to get out some emerald green decor! But since I am spending so much time in rehab trying to get my broken wrist back up to speed, I am running a bit late. So I am sharing this cute DIY St. Patricks Day flag that I shared a year ago on the blog. With St. Patricks Day coming up, I wanted to hang a St.Patrick's Day-themed flag in my garden. But I am always surprised at how much those tiny garden flags cost. For instance, a Leprehaun hat garden flag runs about $9 at Amazon.com. So, using the leftover fabric from Continue reading...
