Thanks to Flexispot for providing me with the desk reviewed in this post. This post contains affiliate links.
I started a new full time job as a content writer at the end of September. I love my new work-from-home job, but haven’t been liking what sitting at a desk all day has been doing to my body. My legs get sore and tight, and I have carpal tunnel. My physical therapist tells me that it’s not good to be sitting all day. So when I was given the chance to try out the Kana Pro Standing Desk ($499.99) by Flexispot, I jumped at the chance. My new standing desk has turned out to be everything I’d hope it would be. An adjustable desk makes it easy to get a desk at an optimal height for typing, so you don’t stress your wrists. The ability to stand sometimes while working, too, is good for relieving sitting-related muscle tightness.
Easy to Assemble Sit to Stand Desk
My standing desk arrived in two packages—the base of the desk in one package, and the desktop in the other. The package that contained the base of the desk was quite heavy!
To set up the desk in my second-floor home office, I took the parts for the base of the desk upstairs bit by bit. As you might surmise, I have little upper- body strength!
In case you are wondering about the Pooh Bear decor in my office, the room used to be my twins’ baby room. They like the decor so much that we’ve never changed it! Just before my twins came home after they were born, my husband painted the room, stenciled it and put up the border. It is pretty cute!
Quick and Easy Set Up
I set the manual for the desk and all the pieces for the base of the desk out on the floor of my home office. I was really impressed with how simple the assembly instructions were to read—all the parts and screws of the desk were clearly marked and the instructions were easy to understand. I was impressed that the screws were separated in their own sections of a sealed plastic bag and were labeled so there was no mistaking which part was which.
Assembling the desk didn’t take long, and I was able to do most of the work with the Allen wrench that was included with the hardware for the desk.
Once I had the base of the desk set up, I just needed to hook up the cables for the desk, which was done in a few easy steps. I needed an electric screwdriver to attach the desktop to the base, but luckily I already had one handy in my home office.
Once I had the desk put together, I set it upright and then used my electric screwdriver to attach the control handset that moves the desk up and down to the front of the desk.
I used the controls to move the desk up and down, and I was happily surprised that it worked! (I was sure that I wouldn’t hook up the electrical connections correctly.)
Motorized Standing Desk
My new Kana Pro bamboo Standing Desk by Flexispot moves so smoothly and quietly. I also like the simple white base and bamboo desktop. The control handset has memory functions so I can set it to remember the sitting height I prefer and the standing height I like, too, to make it easier to get the desk at the correct heights for me. The desk can get as low as 23.6 inches and can go as high as 49.2 inches.
The 48- x 24-inch desktop has plenty of room to hold my Macbook, Bluetooth keyboard, mouse and external monitor.
I really like working at my new desk! I think both my back and my carpal tunnel have improved since I got my new Flexispot desk.
I like having the option to sit or stand during the day. I am hoping that alternating between sitting and standing while I work will help improve my fitness and lessen some of the stiffness and pain that I have gotten in the past from sitting all day.
I’d love to get the Flexispot Under Desk Bike V9U ($299.99). The adjustable-height bike chair is made to pair well with the standing desk, and would be an easy way to add in a little exercise to my workday. The bike chair is made to neatly tuck away under the desk when it’s not in use.
Best Mom Gift from Amazon
I received my Flexispot standing desk just before Christmas, and it’s one of the gifts for best mom Amazon gifts I received for the holiday! I like the option of being able to stand while I work to increase my fitness. I would love to get a bicycle desk chair to use at the desk, as I’ve said.
My desk can be set to a low height, so I think I’ll try using a stability ball while I sit at my desk, so I can improve my core while I work.
