How to Make a Simple Queso
My husband, kids and I love queso. We adore it so much that we often go to one of our favorite Mexican food restaurants just for queso. So I’m glad that I’ve discovered an easy and delicious queso recipe to make at home. What’s better is that my queso recipe only requires a few ingredients and can easily be made on the stove.
White Queso Recipe
- 1 lb. pepperjack cheese
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- ½ c. sour cream
- One 10 oz. can tomatoes & green chilies, drained
- ¾ c. whole milk
- ? c. fresh chopped cilantro (optional)
- ? c. chopped green onion (optional)
- A dash or two of hot sauce (optional)
Instructions

- Cut the pepperjack and cream cheese into small cubes. Combine the cheeses, milk, and sour in a deep medium-sized frying pan over low heat.
- Stir until most of the mixture is melted. Turn off the heat and mix in the tomatoes and green chilies. If you like, add a dash of hot pepper. To serve, carefully pour the queso into a bowl; you can top it with chopped cilantro or green onion if you like.

This dish is a perfect one to enjoy—say, out on the patio—while your husband or kids are making a yummy meal for Mother’s Day! You could even pair it with a chilled margarita if you’re so inclined!!
