As I mentioned a while back, I had a Pampered Chef party recently. It was wonderful having some friends over for the party, and now I have been having fun trying out my new products. Last night, I tried out my new Pampered Chef Medium Bar Pan. The pan normally retails for $25, but I got it for 60% off as a host benefit from my Pampered Chef consultant, Rose Cardone Slack. I bought the pan because I have very little to cook on in the oven. I have a few old cookie pans that I usually cover with foil when I cook meat in the oven. I figure that I can use the Pampered Chef bar pan, which is made Continue reading...
My Blogroll
Before I started blogging on MomHomeGuide.com a few months ago, I knew very little about mom bloggers. When I sought home décor, DIY and decorating ideas, I mainly turned to consumer magazines, television programs on HGTV, and stories on HGTV.com. But since reading other mom bloggers’ blogs, I’ve been doing most of my reading online and spending less money on magazine subscriptions. (Which is wonderful for me, because I am saving money AND creating less clutter in my home.) I LOVE the ideas that these other mom bloggers have, and get tons of inspiration from their DIY, decorating and Continue reading...
Keurig K-Cup Home Brewer — A Hot Father’s Day Gift!
I love my family's Keurig K-Cup Home Brewer. I originally bought the coffee maker as a gift to give to my husband for Christmas, but my kids convinced me to give the brewer to him right away, since he often drinks coffee on the way to work in the morning. If the man in your life doesn't have a K Cup home brewer, it would make a perfect Father's Day gift! The brewer has become a family favorite. My kids love it, because now they can make their own hot drinks on their own, instead of asking me to heat up some hot apple cider, hot chocolate, etc., in the microwave. I keep large mugs in a great Continue reading...
Christmas Countdown
The Christmas season officially began in my house on Saturday – just two short days after Thanksgiving. My family has never decorated so early for Christmas, but since one of my daughters just LOVES Christmas, and couldn’t wait to get the Christmas tree up, I just had to oblige the very first day we had some time. My daughter is so looking forward to Christmas that the minute we came home from our Thanksgiving celebration, she donned her felt Santa Christmas hat. Christmas Organization Thanks to some organizing I did just after last Christmas, I was able to get the Christmas tree up Continue reading...
Bright Friday at Gap
When out shopping the other day, I was pleased to notice that the Gap is running a “Bright Friday” sale through this weekend in stores and online. Through the sale, jeans and clothing will be available at up to a 60% discount. I wanted to buy my girls more pairs of Gap super skinny jeans, which they absolutely love. But even at the Gap’s sale price of $23.96 (down from $29.95), they were still more than I wanted to pay. So I was happy to see that today online at Gap.com, shoppers can add an extra 20% off to the already discounted prices by using the discount code, GAPGIFT. Using the Continue reading...
Pampered Chef-Style Chicken Fajita Dinner
I had a Pampered Chef party at my home last Friday, and it was a lot of fun. For the party, a Pampered Chef consultant came over and demonstrated the Pampered Chef's cooking tools and products. For my guests, she made a great chicken fajita recipe in my kitchen’s microwave in only 14 minutes. She used the Pampered Chef deep covered baker to make the dinner recipe. I was quite impressed – the Pampered Chef covered stoneware casserole dish that she used made the chicken nice and juicy – not rubbery, like one would expect from the microwave. I immediately wanted to order the Pampered Chef deep Continue reading...
Cleaning Out the Toy Chests
Ever since my kids were tots, we’ve kept their wooden toy boxes in our living room. The living room, which is only furnished with an upright piano, was the perfect place for them to play in. The plush carpeting was nice for them to play on and cushioned their falls, and the room’s location just off the kitchen made it easy for me to keep an eye on them while I was cooking. But now that my kids are both 9, I am hoping to move the toy chests downstairs into a basement playroom. I would love to turn the living room into more of an adult living space, and furnish it with a small loveseat and a Continue reading...
Storage for Kids Rooms
Finding enough storage in children’s bedrooms can be tough, but if you buy furniture and accessories with storage in mind, you should be able to find plenty of storage for kids rooms. My daughters, 8, are twins and naturally enjoy sharing a room together. So, when I chose the children's furniture for their room, I chose children's furniture that would give us the most space as possible for storing their things. Their room is fairly large, but not that big, considering that we must fit two twin beds in there, a dresser, and as many places as possible to stash all their toys. So, Continue reading...
Living Room: Before and After
Sometimes, little improvements go a long way in helping to complete a room. Last spring, it was a big home improvement -- brand-new bay and picture windows for my home's living room -- that gave my home's living room a much-improved look. I especially love the bay window because it brings in a lot of light, and my children love to do their reading for school there. We got the new picture window to replace a leaky one, but the bay window was a total splurge. (Thanks, honey!) But shortly after the new windows were installed, I made some small improvements that I believe cost less than Continue reading...
