Pimento Cheese Dip & Other After-School Snacks

September 5, 2022 By Lauren

pimento cheese dip recipe

Happy Monday! Today my blogging friends and I are getting together to share after-school snacks for the Taste Creations recipe blog hop. We get together the first Monday of every month to share recipes, and today we are all sharing our after-school-snack recipes! My kids are in college now (sniff!) but I'll pretend that they are home so I can whip up a tasty afternoon snack—I am always up for a good snack! I tried some pimento cheese when I went to the Haven blogging conference a few years ago with my friend Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom. I thought the cheese dip was so good, so I decided to make Continue reading...

Lovepops Greeting Card Review

August 27, 2022 By Lauren

Lovepops pop-up sunflower greeting card

Thanks to Lovepop cards for sponsoring this post. Both my twins recently went back to college—they are in their second year. I miss them so much! I like to send them special surprises throughout the year to let them know that I am thinking of them. I recently learned about Lovepop cards, really beautiful pop-up thank you cards and other 3D greeting cards designed for every occasion. Beautiful Pop-Up Greeting Cards I think both my kids will really enjoy receiving the Lovepops greeting cards that I've selected for them. I chose the flower pot notecards 4-pack, which gives me two Continue reading...

Favorite Amazon Finds

August 14, 2022 By Lauren

Thanks to Long Rich for sponsoring this post. I am a big Amazon shopper and am always finding new favorite products. In this post, I'd thought I'd share some of my new favorite finds! Among my new faves are a soft and comfy plush throw, a dog bed for my pup, a cross-body bag, a monocular telescope, bluetooth headphones, and a set of silicone baking pans. Large and Comfy Dog Bed My Shih Tzu Mochi is my loyal companion. He sits by my side as I work in my office for my day job. I felt sorry for him since he often would sleep on the floor by my feet, so I decided to get a big fluffy Continue reading...

Vacation at Waterfront Finger Lakes Cottage

August 7, 2022 By Lauren

My family recently returned from a week-long stay on Keuka Lake in New York's Finger Lakes. Our waterfront cottage was located only a block or two south of Penn Yan, which was convenient for short trips into town for shopping or picking up groceries and takeout. Penn Yan is also a fairly short drive to towns like Hammondsport and Watkins Glen for day trips. We had a fun week of visiting local farms, shopping, and splashing and paddling in the lake. Beautiful Keuka Lake I love Keuka Lake. When I was a kid, my grandparents lived in Penn Yan a few blocks from the lake, and we used to stay a Continue reading...

Farmers Market Salad

August 1, 2022 By Lauren

I love this farmers market salad recipe

I live in Central New Jersey, which means that I have lots of wonderful farmers markets near me. I can drive just a few minutes away from my town in almost any direction and reach beautiful farmland. I love it! So recently, when I needed to come up with my family's Sunday night dinner, I decided to visit Lee's Turkey Farm, one of the local farmers markets within a few miles from my house, and pick up ingredients for a delicious salad filled with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I also got some spring salad greens, avocado and fresh rotisserie chicken from my local supermarket. My Continue reading...

How to Have Healthy, Gorgeous Hair During the Summer

July 13, 2022 By Lauren

Summer is here, heralding the start of a new season with warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours. You've heard that you should wash your hair every day to keep it looking fresh and clean, but who has the time to do so? Between work, school, and social obligations, everyone is usually late. It would be simpler to just leave it dirty and leave it that way.  But, according to Dr. G.K. Sharma, medical director at a world-class hair transplant center, this is bad for one’s hair. When you go more than a few days without washing your hair, the renowned hair transplant doctor warns, it Continue reading...

Smooth Work Day Cold Brew

July 12, 2022 By Lauren

I love this easy cold brew recipe

I spend much of my work days with a hot cup of tea. But I've been reading that cold brews are milder and sweeter than hot-brewed coffee and that coffee contains healthy antioxidants, can lower inflammation and can protect against disease, so I decided to give cold brews a try. Not to mention that I normally need a caffeine boost to get me through my day. Plus, my friends at Lardera Coffee Roasters recently sent me two of their straight-from-the-farm ground coffees to try, Kenya Washed and Tipica Honey plus a Lardera Cold Brew Pitcher ($24), so I figured the time was right to start making some Continue reading...

Day Trip to Cattus Island County Park

June 26, 2022 By Lauren

There is an observation desk at Cattus Island County Park that offers spectacular marshland views.

Just over a week ago my family visited Cattus Island Park, a beautiful place in Toms River, NJ. We also visited the same park with our pup last summer, too. The park is so pretty that I wanted to visit it again! The 530-acre natural area is on both the Silver and Barnegat bays, and features several sandy beaches with amazing views. The park offers: Flat, easy trailsA boardwalk that winds through marshlandBay viewsBird-watching opportunitiesSandy bay beachesA second-story marshland and bird-watching deckAn environmental centerButterfly GardenBird-viewing area with bird feedersPicnicking Continue reading...
