Easy Attic Flooring with Attic Dek

written by Lauren

Attic Dek flooring makes it easy to install attic floors

This post was sponsored by Attic Dek, who provided me with Attic Dek flooring in exchange for my review. This post contains Amazon affiliate links. If you click on an Amazon link and make a purchase, it doesn't cost you anything, but I earn a small commission that helps me to run this blog. Thanks! Ever since my husband and I moved into our new home about 15 years ago, I've wanted to put flooring in our home's attic. Our attic wasn't built with flooring, so until recently, we didn't store anything in our home's attic. It was such a waste of good storage space! My husband meant to put in Continue reading...

top 10 posts of 2016 on Mom Home Guide

Now that 2017 is almost here, I thought I'd share the top 10 posts of 2016 here on Mom Home Guide. Looking at Mom Home Guide's top 10 posts for 2016, I've realized that I was very busy this year! My friend,  Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom, is also sharing her top 10 posts of 2016, so be sure to stop by her blog, too! I created a family computer command center, added new décor to the family room, created an outdoor seating area, chalk-painted a jewelry armoire, painted an accent wall in the master bathroom, created new placemat pillows for my living room and updated my home's mini Continue reading...

May Goals

written by Lauren

May Goals -- I like to set smaller monthly goals that are easier to accomplish in a month.

Today I am joining my friend, Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom, in sharing my personal goals for May. I think setting monthly goals is a great exercise for getting things done! 1. Clean and Beautify Backyard. I have been all about cleaning and organizing my home lately. So, one of my May goals is to clean up and improve the backyard, so my family and I can enjoy our yard this coming spring and summer! I got a start on that goal last week -- I filled five trash bins with twigs and branches from our backyard and scheduled a yard waste pickup with my town. I don't think my husband and I have Continue reading...

Charging & Organizing Electronics with Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ Batteries

A decorated gift box makes great storage for storage of gear for cell phones and electronics

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser.  All opinions are mine alone. #BringingInnovation#CollectiveBias This post contains affiliate links.   Now that my kids are tweens, electronics have replaced many of their cute toys -- instead of playing with stuffed animals and dollhouses, it's all about the Wii, iPods, Kindles and iPhones. Which is fine -- my kids can be quite creative on their iPods and iPhones and use cool new apps to edit images and videos! But since my daughters usually have some sort of electronic device at their Continue reading...

Monday Favorites (Link Up Party Picks)

how to organize kids toys in your living space

Last week, I was lucky enough to co-host the Creative Spark Link Up Party. It was so much fun! There were so many great projects and ideas shared! So today I am sharing my favorite tutorials and projects from that party! I am crazy about Deb from Seeking Lavender Lane's Tutorial on how to keep a beautiful home with kids! I think she's just brilliant! In her tutorial, she shows how she hides her kids' toys and craft items in plain sight! Her post shows her beautiful living space, complete with grey walls and white furniture. Her space looks like it's right out of a magazine! But scattered Continue reading...

How to Organize Toys for Kids

written by Lauren

organize, toys, bookshelf, wire, bins

Today I'm off enjoying the weekend with my family, so I thought I'd share one of Mom Home Guide's oldies but goodies! A big problem most moms face is how to organize toys for my kids. It seems that these days, kids have way more toys than kids did when I was young. Or, maybe, my parents did a better job of organizing my and my sister’s toys when we were kids than I do organizing my kids’ toys. I just find it hard to organize toys! My daughters’ room doesn’t get cleaned as often as it should because it takes me over an hour just to clear all their toys off the floor and their beds before I Continue reading...

“Rooms Repurposed” — Making Your Home Work for You

written by Lauren

meditation room

A few months ago, I shared with you my friend Christine's awesome black and white craft room. Christine converted what might have been only a lightly used space in her home -- an area that would normally be a dining room -- and converted it into a striking craft room, complete with hand-crafted black and white decor, a card catalog for fabric storage and a highly functional sewing table. I am so excited because that room is now one of the inspiring spaces featured in Cristin Frank's new book, Rooms Repurposed: A Purposeful Home, A Purposeful Life, available on Amazon.com! What Continue reading...

2013 Year in Review

written by Lauren

mom home guide, 2013, year in review

Happy 2014, everyone! I can't believe that 2013 is over! Last year was a busy one here at Mom Home Guide. So, before launching my new projects for 2014, I am going to share the best of what I accomplished in 2013! Here is my 2013 Mom Home Guide Year in Review. Burlap Crafts Burlap was popular in 2013, so like many crafters, I jumped onto the burlap bandwagon in 2013. It was fun! Two of my favorite burlap crafts I completed was my stenciled no-sew burlap valance for my home's downstairs powder room, and my no-sew fringed burlap table runner. Both projects were problem solvers, as I was having Continue reading...

Rainbow Loom Organization

tackle box, organize, rainbow loom

The rainbow loom craze has hit my home! I love that my daughters are having so much fun crafting their rainbow loom bracelets, but I soon discovered that we seriously needed something to organize all of my children's rainbow loom supplies! We used to keep my kids' rainbow loom rubber bands in one big plastic takeout container, but that system didn't work too well. All of my kids' different rubber band colors were all jumbled together in that container, so sorting out the colors that they needed was a long process for my kids! Rainbow Loom Rubber Bands Organized I found the Continue reading...

Storage for Kids Rooms

written by Lauren

This post contains Amazon affilate links. Finding enough storage in children’s bedrooms can be tough, but if you buy furniture and accessories with storage in mind, you should be able to find plenty of storage for kids rooms. My daughters, used to enjoy sharing a room together. (They have since gotten their own rooms.) So, when I chose the children's furniture for their room, I chose children's furniture that would give us the most space as possible for storing their things. Their room is fairly large, but not that big, considering that we must fit two twin beds in there, a dresser, Continue reading...
