Wall Art to Cover Unfinished Basement Walls
Here at Mom Home Guide, I’ve written frequently about my hopes to at some point make my home’s unfinished basement a more livable and fun space for my kids. As unfinished basements go, my home’s basement is great – the ceiling is pretty high, and the basement, while cluttered at this point, is at least clean, dry and fairly bright. Of course, I’d love to finish the basement, but with a budget in mind, I am looking for ways to improve the basement without breaking the bank. That’s why I love the products at Lot 26 Studio. The web shop has very large canvas wall hangings and wall decals Continue reading...

Guest Post: Pool Maintenance Tips for First Time Owners
By Becky Flanigan I remember when we first got our family pool. It was a glorious experience to watch the kids jump in for the first time. Over the years, we’ve learned a lot about pool maintenance – the right ways to do things, and from some painful experience, we found out a couple of wrong ways to do things. With that hard-won experience, I can pass along some thoughts for people who are getting a pool for the first time. Here are the most valuable four maintenance tips I can think of: 1) Don’t neglect the upkeep. We thought having the pool was a great idea, but the first year or Continue reading...

DIY Flower Tower
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. Now that spring is here, I’d like to add some color to my home’s patio and backyard. Just the other day, I picked a project that would give me quick results, since I wasn’t up to putting in the hours and work that would be required for me to start a flower bed in my backyard. I’ve been noticing a lot of great flower tower projects by other homeowners across the Web and on Pinterest, so I thought I’d give it a try! Flower towers take gardening to new heights for even novice gardeners Continue reading...
Chicken Enchilada Casserole / Enter to Win $5,000
I just love casseroles – who wouldn’t? I am a big fan of cheese (which most casseroles include), and I adore the ease of making a casserole for dinner. All I have to do is assemble the ingredients, add them to my casserole dish, place it in the oven, and I am done! It’s also great that I can get a casserole started for dinner while my kids are in school. Easy Weeknight Dinner My kids like Mexican food like tacos, fajitas and enchiladas, so recently, I made them a chicken enchilada casserole for dinner. The meal is a cinch to prepare, and the best part about it is that the dish can be Continue reading...
Review: Werther’s Sugar Free Hard Candies
My family and I have been trying lately to eat healthier and to consume less sugar: I have joined a gym, we're eating oatmeal and other healthier cereals in the morning, and we have been trying to eat less sugary snacks. Also, I am hoping to shed quite a few pounds, so eating less sugar is super important in that quest! So, when I was offered the chance to try out Werther's Original Sugar Free Candy, I jumped at the chance! The package came in the mail the other day, and the box was filled with Werther's Original Caramel, Caramel Cinnamon, Caramel Coffee and Caramel Apple Continue reading...
Monogrammed Glass Votive Holders
This weekend, I went to a bridal shower for one of my younger cousins. (Congratulations, Amanda!) For her shower, there was a wishing well in which each guest was asked to bring a candle for the bride-to-be, since she loves candles. I wanted to do something unique and memorable for Amanda, so I made her monogrammed glass votive holders for candles. The craft was very easy -- to make the monogrammed votives, all I did was pick a font and type the initials for the bride's and the groom's first names and an ampersand. I cut the letters out and glued them to the votives with Mod Podge. Continue reading...
