Fall Favorite Things

written by Lauren

Now that the weather is getting cooler, I am excited about fall and the fun activities that my family and I can share together the next few months. So to get in the spirit of the season, I decided to share 12 of my fall favorite things -- what I love most about this time of year: 1. Fall walks in the woods and the sight and smell of autumn leaves pixelperfectdigital.com 2. Watching my kids make huge piles of leaves in the yard to jump in 3. Brewing cups of mulled apple cider for my kids 4. Snuggling under warm comforters on cool autumn nights 5. Fall movie nights with Continue reading...

Quick and Healthy School Lunches

written by Lauren

quick, easy, healthy, school, lunch

I make my kids' school lunches daily, and it's not uncommon for me to be up until 11 p.m. or later making my kids' meals for the next school day. But I just saw some great tips by online that will make packing my kids' school lunches a breeze! To pack lunches quickly and easily, all I need to do is place a protein (yogurt or cheese, hummus, or cubes of chicken, etc.), fruit, and veggies that are washed and ready to go in small containers for my fridge. I also can assemble small snack containers (with pretzels, Goldfish, etc.) that my kids can choose. In the morning, all they need to do is Continue reading...

Halloween Boo Grams

written by Lauren

Halloween boogram

It’s that season again – it’s almost time to “boo” the neighbors! We started a little Halloween  tradition two years ago in our neighborhood where kids and families take turns “booing” each other, secretly leaving fun packages of treats, toys and goodies and a Halloween boo gram (a cute Halloween note) by a neighbor’s door. I've also created some free boo grams to share! My family is to the tradition, but Halloween "booing" and boo grams are popular in many neighborhoods across the country. Booing the neighbors is sort of like “Secret Santa,” where the gift Continue reading...

Fall Container Gardens

written by Lauren

fall container gardens

Now that fall is here, I have been looking for ways to continue gardening, since I had so much fun with my new southern-exposure flower garden over the summer. My daughters and I found a great way to garden in the fall and to add some autumn color to a home's outdoor decor -- fall container gardens! Earlier this month, I signed up for a fall container garden workshop at what has become my favorite garden store, Timothy's Center for Gardening in Robbinsville, NJ. I was going to go by myself or take a friend along, but instead, I took my twin 10-year-old daughters, and we had a Continue reading...

Time to Plant Spring Bulbs

written by Lauren

when to plant spring bulbs

This summer, I just adored the new perennial garden that I planted along the southern side of my home. The phlox and some of the lilies are still blooming, but the sunflowers are long gone. That's why today when the kids come home, I plan to enlist their help in planting some spring bulbs. Now is the perfect time to plant spring bulbs like daffodils and tulips, which bloom in the spring. Since it's necessary to plant spring bulbs in the fall before the soil freezes, I plan to get an early start by doing my planting today. I usually wait until October to plant my bulbs, but I've Continue reading...

Five Places You Forget to Vacuum

written by Lauren

bissell, vacuum, stairs

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of BISSELL Homecare, Inc. for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. My home is filled with wall-to-wall carpeting, which means that I do a lot of vacuuming. I try to vacuum frequently to keep my house clean, but I have to admit there are a few spots that I overlook! BISSELL’S PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology Vacuum The areas I forget to vacuum are those out-of-the-way or hard to reach spots, so I am very intrigued by BISSELL’S new PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology vacuum. This powerful, yet light vacuum has a Continue reading...

Storage for Kids Rooms

written by Lauren

This post contains Amazon affilate links. Finding enough storage in children’s bedrooms can be tough, but if you buy furniture and accessories with storage in mind, you should be able to find plenty of storage for kids rooms. My daughters, used to enjoy sharing a room together. (They have since gotten their own rooms.) So, when I chose the children's furniture for their room, I chose children's furniture that would give us the most space as possible for storing their things. Their room is fairly large, but not that big, considering that we must fit two twin beds in there, a dresser, Continue reading...
