Hey, everyone! Happy weekend! This week I was lucky enough to co-host the Blogiversary Party for my blogging friend, Bonnie of The Pin Junkie. There were so many great projects linked up for the party! I am a fall and home decor junkie, so I decided to first share my favorite home and fall crafts and home decor projects from The Pin Junkie Blogiversary party! The party is still going strong, so feel free to stop by and add your project or recipe to the party! I totally adore the neutral fall wreath from Live Laugh Rowe. I met Kelly at the Haven Conference last July, and she's just great! Continue reading...
Four Great DIY Pot Rack Ideas
If you have a small kitchen like my home's kitchen, finding enough storage for everything can be tough! To add more storage for pots and pans, I've been wanting to add a pot rack, but pot racks can be expensive, and the ceiling ones can be tough to install. So, I love the DIY pot rack ideas that I found on the P&Geveryday website! The P&Geveryday website has tons of great pointers for making every day easier, with lots of recipes and ideas for home decor, gardening, useful products and fun family activities. The P&Geveryday website, created by Procter & Gamble, also has Continue reading...
Mom Home Guide House Tour
*This post contains affiliate links. I just love looking at online house tours of other mom bloggers’ homes. To me, my home is a work in progress. Over the past few months, I’ve completed a few home improvements, like decorating and furnishing my home's living room, making my home’s mudroom/foyer area more functional, creating a fun study/media/play space for the kids and adding more privacy to my home’s backyard. There are several more projects I’d like to complete — some of the wishes on my wish list include hardwood flooring and making our unfinished basement more livable, but I am not Continue reading...
Prep Your Outdoor Spaces for Summer
Editor's Note: I am working on some new projects for the blog today, so I thought I'd share this post from Mom Home Guide's archives. Many of these projects are on my to-do list for this year: I really need to paint the Adirondack chairs and I have to plant my flower tower for this summer! I am a HUGE fan of Sarah, who runs the Thrifty Decor Chick mom / home decor blog. I want to ready my outdoor spaces for summer entertaining, so I decided to check out her blog, Thrifty Decor Chick. Sarah has an incredible eye for design and is a fantastic DIYer! Plus, her home is beautiful! Continue reading...
Mason Jar Succulents
A few weekends ago, my family and I were invited to a wonderful backyard barbecue with good friends. Three of my great "mom" friends were there, so I decided to make them all personalized gifts. I made a potted succulent plant for each friend -- I planted the succulents in pretty green mason jars. I think this gift is wonderful for anyone who adores plants. Potted succulents also make for lovely teacher appreciation or end of the year gifts! This gift might even please some dads for Father's Day! I found some great succulents at my local Wal-Mart store. Succulents are hardy plants that have Continue reading...
You’ll Never See Me Post About…
As a blogger, I share much of my life online. Readers of Mom Home Guide see everything from how I recently decorated and furnished my living room, what I’ve recently planted in the garden and my latest DIY projects, like the throw pillows I made for my home’s new sofa. There are things you’ll likely never see me post about online, however! There are reasons why I’m a home décor/DIY blogger and not a family/parenting blogger. A main reason is that I’m obsessed with decorating and improving my home. Part of the reason is that blogging is my choice, not my family’s. I’m open to sharing my Continue reading...
How to Make a DIY Bird Bath
Hi, everyone! The below post is an oldie but goodie here at Mom Home Guide. My spring garden is looking beautiful right now with all the daffodils and tulips that my daughters helped me plant last fall. (Thanks, girls!) I hope to get into the garden and plant some more flowers soon. I also have to make sure that I keep our bird feeder filled and bird bath replenished with water so the birds will keep coming to our garden! Enjoy my how to make a DIY bird bath tutorial! It's been a few weeks since I planted my flower garden. Now that my garden is complete, I have been Continue reading...
Easy Cloth Napkin Pillows
Hello! I am back talking about easy DIY pillows again. (I last posted about my cloth placemat pillows.) As you probably know, I am in LOVE with my new Mohawk Home area rug, and my La-Z-Boy sofa, which I adore dressing up and making look pretty. So, when I found 4-packs of cloth napkins on sale at Target for less than $3 a pack, I had to snag them! I just love the pretty prints. I knew I could transform the cloth napkins into DIY cloth napkin pillows for my new La-Z-Boy sofa! I bought three packs of the cloth napkins. Since four napkins are in each pack, I could make Continue reading...
DIY Simple Placemat Pillows
I am loving the yellow and green placemat pillows that I made for my brand-new La-Z-Boy sofa! These sofa throw pillows were so easy to make -- I simply made them by stuffing two-sided cloth placemats with pillow stuffing! It took me only about 20 minutes to make these pillows -- I actually finished stitching them when the truck that delivered my new sofa pulled into my driveway! Talk about last minute! Simple Placemat Pillows I love how the yellow and white and green and white and yellow pillows add pops of color to the sofa. I also adore the edging around the pillows -- I didn't Continue reading...
Spring Countdown: Seed Starting
Normally, I aim to get my garden started on Saint Patrick's Day. But since snow is forecasted for this Saint Patrick's Day, I think I will be prepping my garden and seed starting a little late this year! But I found one wonderful project that I can try -- an indoor greenhouse! Thanks to the Taylor-Made Ranch Homestead Blog, I found a really simple and inexpensive way to start seeds for spring indoors! The folks at the Taylor-Made Ranch Homestead Blog have a tutorial on how to create an "indoor greenhouse" by starting seeds with seed starting mix in a clear Continue reading...
