What do you do when you want to decorate for Christmas, but it's not Thanksgiving yet? You craft a "transitional" holiday wreath that would work just fine as a Christmas wreath but can serve as home decor for just about any other time of year, as well. That was my thinking when I created my Holiday Pom Pom Wreath. Today is the first Thursday of the month, so that means I am sharing one of my home decor tutorials at Ask Anna! Stop by Ask Anna for my full tutorial on how to make this fun and fluffy wreath! The tutorial also includes detailed instructions on how to make pom poms. I shared Continue reading...
Fall Paper Leaf Wreath
Happy October! To celebrate fall, I decided to make an easy and fun paper leaf wreath for my home. What's great is that I made the fall paper leaf wreath at no cost with materials I already had at home. I love how the happy fall colors brighten up my house! The project was simple -- I just cut out a circular wreath out of cardboard and glued on some paper leaves that I cut out from paper that I already had. I didn't even need a glue gun -- I used regular white school glue. I also used some white twine to wrap around my wreath (for a decorative touch) and to hang my wreath. Easy! Paper Continue reading...
Happy Fourth! (Free Independence Day Printable)
Happy Fourth of July, everyone! To celebrate, I created a free printable graphic to share! Feel free to download it and print out a copy of your own! Link to free PDF download of Fourth of July Printable I meant to print out and frame my printable, but this week has gotten very busy, so sorry about that! I am prepping for my very first blog conference next week -- to Haven -- and have a lot of preparing and packing to do! I won the trip through a NRG Residential Solutions Learn & ConserveSM Blogger Challenge. Thanks, Natalie and NRG! My family and I won't be doing much barbecuing Continue reading...
DIY St. Patricks Day Flag
Now that St. Patricks Day is coming up, I'm getting ready to get out some emerald green decor! But since I am spending so much time in rehab trying to get my broken wrist back up to speed, I am running a bit late. So I am sharing this cute DIY St. Patricks Day flag that I shared a year ago on the blog. With St. Patricks Day coming up, I wanted to hang a St.Patrick's Day-themed flag in my garden. But I am always surprised at how much those tiny garden flags cost. For instance, a Leprehaun hat garden flag runs about $9 at Amazon.com. So, using the leftover fabric from Continue reading...
Framed Valentine’s Day Collage
Since I broke my wrist just over a week ago, I haven't been working on many projects - I've mostly been icing and resting my wrist, which now has a metal plate and 12 screws in it, thanks to my lovely mishap! Sigh! But my hubby and kids have been so sweet to me (they are the best!), that I just had to show my appreciation! So when I was doing a mini shopping trip at my local Walmart the other day, I picked up some supplies in their crafting section to make an easy and quick framed burlap Valentine's Day collage. Making My Valentine's Day Collage The collage is about the only thing Continue reading...
Dollar Store Valentine’s Day Centerpiece
Now that I have taken down all the Christmas decorations, my home was looking a little empty! So I decided to get to work decorating for the next holiday ... Valentine's Day! I spotted some great supplies at my local dollar store that I thought I could use to make a beautiful Valentine's Day centerpiece. So I picked up a class candle holder, a heart-shaped glass dish, a red scented candle and some plastic heart scatters -- all for just over $4! I had some Gorilla Glue on hand, so I decided to use that to glue my glass dish to my glass candle holder. Gorilla Glue is very strong -- I've used Continue reading...
Happy National Rubber Ducky Day
I bet you didn't know it, but today is a special day! That's because it is officially national rubber ducky day! I didn't know about the holiday until just a few days ago, but I am sure glad that I found out! I have been a fan of the rubber ducky ever since I saw Jim Henson's Ernie sing the rubber ducky song on Sesame Street on TV. I sang that song all the time as a child! I used to sing the song to my kids when they were tots, and my daughters told me they always loved when I sang that song! I never knew all the lyrics to the rubber ducky song, but now I do! RUBBER DUCKIE Ernie Continue reading...
