As a blogger, I share much of my life online. Readers of Mom Home Guide see everything from how I recently decorated and furnished my living room, what I’ve recently planted in the garden and my latest DIY projects, like the throw pillows I made for my home’s new sofa. There are things you’ll likely never see me post about online, however! There are reasons why I’m a home décor/DIY blogger and not a family/parenting blogger. A main reason is that I’m obsessed with decorating and improving my home. Part of the reason is that blogging is my choice, not my family’s. I’m open to sharing my Continue reading...

Heart-Warming Good Reads
My! Is it chilly here! It is supposed to get to -4 degrees (that's NEGATIVE 4 - YIKES!) here in New Jersey tonight! I can’t remember another time EVER when it’s been that cold outside here! Weather like this just makes me want to snuggle under a throw on the couch and read a good book! I used to be strictly a fiction nut, but lately, I’ve been hooked on biographies and autobiographies. I guess it’s because I am always looking for lessons on how people traveled through life and found their successes. These are a few interesting ones I’ve read recently, if you are looking for a good Continue reading...
Winter Getaway – #Marriott
When winter rolls around here in New Jersey, I start longing for a getaway from the winter's cold weather and dark nights. I've found that quick winter getaways are a great way to chase away the winter blues! But because I don't have a big budget, I can never go away very far on my winter getaways. But that doesn't matter, because my friends and family have discovered that even booking just an overnight or two at a local Marriott can be a lot of fun! Ring in the New Year In past years, my family and two other families on our block have celebrated the New Year at a local Marriott. The Continue reading...
Four Great Day New Jersey Day Trips
Earlier this month, my husband, kids and I enjoyed a wonderful "staycation" week of New Jersey day trips. We are lucky that we live in a great location in Central New Jersey that allows us easy access to so many fun places and things to do. Where we live in New Jersey, we are only 1 hour to about two hours away from New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey beaches and the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. Come take a look at some of the great New Jersey day trips we took, and plan your next New Jersey day trip! Ocean City, NJ Until this summer, my family and had never been Continue reading...
What’s New on Mom Home Guide
Here at Mom Home Guide, I've been getting ready for spring with Easter Crafts, an Easter giveaway, some decorating for the kids and some spring gardening! Check out what I have been up to! Crafting a Simple Easter Flag I am always astonished at how much it costs to purchase small decorative garden flags — most cost at least $10. So recently, I’ve taken to making my own garden flags. I don’t even have to travel to a local craft store to get the fabric — I’ve been purchasing fabric for my garden flags from my local Walmart, which has a fabric section. An Easter Garden Flag Craft
I am always astonished at how much it costs to purchase small decorative garden flags -- most cost at least $10. So recently, I've taken to making my own garden flags. I don't even have to travel to a local craft store to get the fabric -- I've been purchasing fabric for my garden flags from my local Walmart, which has a fabric section. So I thought it would be fun to do an Easter garden flag craft. The inexpensive garden flag that I crafted for my home's front garden. Most recently, I made a leprechaun garden flag. (The fabric from that flag came from Joann.com.) But now that Easter is Continue reading...
Gettting the Most Out of Your Space
I read on Yahoo today that Internet stories on small spaces are becoming more prevalent and more popular. As people struggle to make a living in today's rough economy, I am sure smaller, but more affordable, spaces are more in demand. I watched a video today about Felice Cohen, a woman who makes her living as a professional organizer and lives in a miniscule 90-square-foot apartment. The pluses to her small New York City space are that it is centrally located, is only a block from Central Park, and rents for only $700 a month -- which is a steal for Manhattan. I watched videos today about Continue reading...
Is An Open Floor Plan Home for You?
When I purchased my family’s home about 9 years ago, I had no idea about would make for a good family home. It’s not until I had kids (twins) a few months after into moving into our house, did I begin to recognize what home features a mom truly appreciates in a house. For one, I discovered that my home’s open floor plan can be ideal for raising a family. My kitchen looks out into the family room, which made it easy for me to keep an eye on my tots as I cooked in the kitchen. The open floor is also great when we have friends and family over, because it gives us a lot of space in which to Continue reading...
Crafting an Easter Garden Flag for Less Than $3
I am always astonished at how much it costs to purchase small decorative garden flags -- most cost at least $10. So recently, I've taken to making my own garden flags. I don't even have to travel to a local craft store to get the fabric -- I've been purchasing fabric for my garden flags from my local Walmart, which has a fabric section. Most recently, I made a leprechaun garden flag. (The fabric from that flag came from Joann.com.) But now that Easter is coming up, I decided to replace that one with one for the Easter upcoming holiday. So, I went to Walmart and found a cute Easter Bunny Continue reading...
