DIY Holiday Village for Christmas

written by Lauren

A simple and inexpensive DIY holiday snow village for Christmas! I always wanted one of these!

WOW -- I can't believe that Christmas is nearly here! My kids and I have always wanted a holiday Christmas snow village, but all those holiday village pieces (the cute houses, etc.) are SO expensive! So, I decided that my daughters and I could make our own holiday village. My daughters and I started out by buying little unfinished wood houses at our local craft store. The houses were inexpensive. I bought spray paint for the houses that I thought would look like snow, but the spray paint just added a light glittery look to the houses. We topped out houses with cotton ball "snow" instead. Oral B Pro-Health 3000: A Christmas Gift for Tweens

written by Lauren

oral b pro health 3000 toothbrush

Now that my kid are tweens, I've found it tougher to find gifts for them that will go the distance. You know, gifts that will be liked and used for more than just a few days. (Tweens can be fickle!) So this year, I've already gifted them with the Oral-B Pro-Health 3000, and they love it! Healthy Christmas Gift for Kids This year I started a new tradition: For the 25 days leading up to Christmas, I let each daughter unwrap a gift. Each gift is marked with how many days there are until Christmas. Most of the gifts I've been giving are useful things that they can use everyday, like the Continue reading...

The Christmas Pickle – A Fun Holiday Tradition

written by Lauren

christmas pickle ornament

This holiday season, I have been into creating new Christmas traditions for my kids. Just a few days ago, we started using our new decorated advent gift boxes to count down until Christmas -- my daughters have been having so much fun opening the boxes each morning to find little treats and surprises for them nestled inside! Christmas Pickle Ornament Yesterday, I was in a local dollar store and was very happy to find glass pickle ornaments for just $1 each! I've heard of the tradition of hiding a glass pickle ornament in the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, and have always been curious about Continue reading...

7 Christmas Advent Calendars

written by Lauren

seven, advent, calendar, craft

I just love advent calendars. Since I've created my gift box advent calendar for my kids, I've been noticing other really great advent calendars from other blogs. I'd love to create one of these other advent calendars and add to the fun my kids and I have been having with our advent calendar! Gift Box Advent Calendar To create my family's advent calendar, I gathered some of the mini gift boxes I've saved over the years. I used some scrapbook paper to decorate the boxes, and either hand numbered them or used number stickers to number each box. In each box, I placed special treats Continue reading...
