Front Yard Curb Appeal (Curb Appeal Blog Hop)

written by Lauren

curb appeal blog hop

Today I am excited to share with you the Curb Appeal Blog Hop 2016! Over the next few weeks, I will be joining several other bloggers to share a curb appeal project. My fellow bloggers and I have many fun curb appeal blog projects planned, so be sure to follow along! We will be sharing our front yard curb appeal projects every Tuesday over a period of four weeks. A Front Yard Seating Area Over the next month, I'll be working on improving a garden area that's to one side of my home's driveway. The builder of my home had planted some shrubs there, but they all died! Over the years, I've Continue reading...

This post contains Amazon affiliate links.   Happy Monday, everyone! I've always wanted a kitchen herb garden, but was never really sure how to create one! But after some pondering and research (and a little work), I now have a really cute herb garden in my kitchen! I only planted my herb garden a few weeks ago, and already, my herbs are thriving! My cilantro is especially doing well. (I marked the cilantro Continue reading...

May Goals

written by Lauren

May Goals -- I like to set smaller monthly goals that are easier to accomplish in a month.

Today I am joining my friend, Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom, in sharing my personal goals for May. I think setting monthly goals is a great exercise for getting things done! 1. Clean and Beautify Backyard. I have been all about cleaning and organizing my home lately. So, one of my May goals is to clean up and improve the backyard, so my family and I can enjoy our yard this coming spring and summer! I got a start on that goal last week -- I filled five trash bins with twigs and branches from our backyard and scheduled a yard waste pickup with my town. I don't think my husband and I have Continue reading...

DIY Garden Markers

written by Lauren

I love the look of this DIY basil herb garden marker

This post contains Amazon affiliate links. If you click on a link and make a purchase, I earn a small commission to help fund this blog. Thanks! Now that spring is here, I can't wait to start gardening! I've already started some seeds indoors for garden herbs, so I decided to make some quick DIY herb garden markers! For my stakes for my herb garden markers, I used wood chopsticks! There are always a lot of chopsticks in my house -- I don't know what to do with them all! I am glad that I found a purpose for at least some of them! I only needed just a few supplies for my Continue reading...

April Monthly Goals

My april monthly goals -- a list of the goals I hope to achieve this month

Happy Saturday, everyone! I can't believe we are into April already! My blogging friend, Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom, has a really fun monthly goals series that she launched this year. Every month she blogs about her goals for the month, and the next month, she revisits the previous month's goals to see how how much she accomplished! I like the idea of setting monthly goals for myself, so I decided to get in on the fun! I think regular goal setting is a good exercise for achieving goals! Here are my April Monthly Goals! 1 - Convert the coat closet in the family room into a pantry. Continue reading...

How to Force Bulbs in Winter

written by Lauren

how to force bulbs

*I received free product in exchange for my review. All opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own. I like to garden, so winter is a long and cold hiatus for me from one of my favorite hobbies! So when I received a box full of beautiful bulbs from High Country Gardens recently, I was anxious to do some planting! You may wonder how I could plant spring bulbs now -- but by "forcing" bulbs indoors now, I can enjoy some beautiful spring flowers in just a few short weeks! Forcing bulbs is a way to trick bulbs to bloom indoors after a few weeks of cold storage. High Country Gardens was Continue reading...

5 Easy to Grow House Plants

written by Lauren

5 easy house plants to own

I love gardening, and do fairly well at it, but for reasons I don't full understand, I'm not the best houseplant owner! Over the years, however, I've discovered (by trial and error) a few kinds of houseplants that can take even the abuse I tend to dish out to my poor houseplants! Snake Plant This hardy succulent (sansevieria trifasciata) can take neglect! (Perfect for a negligent houseplant owner like me!) The snake plant prefers dry air and dry soil. The plant produces sword-like stems and can produce green, fragrant flowers in bright light. Snake plants can be 6- to 48-inches Continue reading...

My June Garden

written by Lauren

stella de oro daylily

It's been a bit dreary and rainy here in New Jersey, but that's been great for my garden! My front garden roses bushes have been blooming, and many of the annuals that I planted for summer have been looking great! My June gardens are thriving! Roses like a lot of water, so the rain has been great for them! In past summers, I've always wondered why my roses weren't blooming much, but that's because I wasn't watering them enough! LOL! I have to remember how well the roses have been doing during these past few rainy days here in Central New Jersey! [tweetthis]Come see this beautiful spring Continue reading...
