Black and White Craft Room Design

written by Lauren

black, white, craft, room, remodel

Do you have a space in your home that’s not being used to its full potential? My friend Christine did, so she turned it into a rocking craft space! Dining/Living Space Turned Craft Room The space she converted into her craft space is just off her home’s kitchen and would normally be used as a dining or living room area. But Christine, who does wonders with a sewing machine (she created a beautiful parade banner for our Girl Scout troop) and is quite handy (she built a dollhouse for her daughter with working lights), decided the space would work better as her crafting area. The craft Continue reading...

written by Lauren

DIY, install, door, hardware, lock

Guest Post by Doug Harris Some projects in your home can wait for the perfect time – lots of outdoor projects, for example, are best done on a beautiful summer day. But changing your old door lock isn't one of those projects. Whether it's a lost key or a broken lock, replacing your door lock is an essential piece of home maintenance that needs to be done right away. But how do you change a lock? How do you install new door hardware? Which kind of door locks are the safest? Let’s take a look at some answers. Most "home entry" door locks, i.e. front and back door, are deadbolts. Mason Jar Crafts

written by Lauren

mason jar picnic, craft

Mason jars are everywhere these days, and I love it! Mason jars are relatively inexpensive and are easy to find -- you can purchase mason jars online at Amazon.com, and they are even at my local Walmart. I've seen several mason jar crafts online that I would love to make for my home! Terrific Mason Jar Crafts I love when mason jars are paired with striped paper straws and are used at a picnic or for an outside gathering with family or friends. I just adore the mason jar picnic that is pictured at Your Home Based Mom! For the picnic she used mason jars for glasses, to hold tea Continue reading...

15 Amazing Tower Planters

written by Lauren

garden, container, DIY, petunia, flower tower

In April,  I created a petunia flower tower for my backyard's patio. The flower tower was a super easy project to complete and was relatively inexpensive, so I have been  searching for other tower planters to try -- I figure that the other end of my home's patio could use some love, too! I am member and a big fan of the home and garden knowledge hub and social media site, Hometalk. HomeTalk is a place where homeowners, bloggers and professionals can get together and share projects or ask questions about home-related issues or interests. I've gotten lots of home improvement and gardening Continue reading...

Homemade Chipwich Recipe

written by Lauren

ice cream, chocolate chip, cookie,chipwich

My twin daughters recently celebrated their birthday. For their birthday, I've done almost every kind of cake for them so far, so when I invited their grandfather and aunt over the other day for a mini birthday celebration, I decided to do something different -- "homemade" chipwiches! (You'll see why I put "homemade" in quotes later!) My semi homemade chipwich recipe is super easy! To make the chipwiches, I purchased M&M chocolate chip cookies from my local grocery store's bakery -- they are quite good! Normally, I would make my own cookies, but I was running short on time Continue reading...

Gifts for Dads

written by Lauren

Oral-B® Professional Deep Sweep™ 1000

If your husband is like mine, it can be very difficult to find the right gift for him. My husband isn’t a huge sports fan and doesn’t grill much, so those are too big Father’s Day gift areas that don’t work in my family. The below are what I think are great gift ideas for even the most finicky dads! These gifts for dads would be perfect for lots of dads. Oral-B® electric Toothbrushes For the dad who likes to keep up on his looks or look after his health, an Oral-B® electric Toothbrush could be a great and useful gift for the Dad in your life. Two good choices would be the Oral-B® Continue reading...
