Mod Podged Craft Letter

written by Lauren

Over the weekend, I finally got around to Mod Podging my craft letter. I've always liked large crafty letters, so I though I would make one of my own. The project was really easy -- I just traced the craft letter (backwards) on the back of some pretty green striped scrapbook paper I found at the craft store. Using a paint brush, I painted Mod Podge onto the top of my craft letter, and applied the scrapbook paper on top. To give the craft letter some shine, I painted some Mod Podge on top. I also added some scrapbook stickers on top for decoration. I was going to place the Continue reading...

Spice Up Your Pot Roast

written by Lauren

I've been wanting to spice up my pot roast for a while now. I make a pot roast at least twice a month -- it is easy, tasty and my family loves it. I like to make it in the slow cooker, since all I have to do is throw the ingredients in, turn on the slow cooker, and I have a delicious meal ready for my family a few hours later! But, I've been a bit disappointed with how bland my pot roasts have been. My husband tends to like spicer foods, and following in their daddy's shoes, my kids tend to like more flavorful foods, too. So, I've been looking for new pot roast recipes, but most have very Continue reading...

Craft Sneak Peak: Mod Podge Letter

written by Lauren

Mod Podge, craft, paper, letter

Hi! How is everyone's week going? This week is a hard week to get some blogging in -- what with the school holiday this past Monday, a school half day today and a lunch date that I have with my dad and aunt later this week, it's hard to fit in writing and project time! So, I'd thought that I'd give you all a sneak peak at my next project -- I hope to have some photos of the completed project up on the blog on Friday. Mod Podge Craft Letter I've always liked the look of monograms and initials, so when I was at the craft store last week, I picked up a big wooden "K," to Continue reading...

Pink, Gray and Blue Palette

Mint Fleur Chinoise Pillow, Caitlin Wilson Textiles

The other day, I wrote about a blue and yellow paint color scheme that I am thinking of using for my home office. I have been considering the paint color scheme, since while the room is currently my office, I figure that in a few years, when my kids hit their tween years, they will no longer want to share a bedroom, and I will have to give up that space. One of my daughters loves blue, so I thought the space might make a good room for her, should I go with the blue and yellow color scheme. But there is a problem with that plan -- the room comes with a walk-in closet, while the other Continue reading...

Pampered Chef Molten Lava Cake

written by Lauren

pampered chef, chocolate, lava cake

For a Valentine's Day treat for my family, I decided to break out my new Pampered Chef Covered Baker and make a quick chocolate molten lava cake.   The recipe was so easy - all I had to do was follow the directions on my chocolate cake mix (add eggs, oil and water to the cake mix and stir) and then add the cake batter to my Covered Baker. I then used about half a container of store-bought chocolate icing and placed spoonfuls of the icing on top of my cake batter. I covered my Pampered Chef covered baker, stuck it in the microwave, and microwaved it for 10 Continue reading...

Yellow and Blue Inspiration Board

written by Lauren

Now that I've completed painting the owl and tree mural feature wall for my kids' new study and media space, I've been dreaming about organizing and painting my home office. Right now, the office has boxes everywhere (of things I need to file) and features plain, unpainted white walls. So boring! I thought something bright and cheery would be great for the office, and have been thinking that the room would look quite nice in a combination of yellows and blues. Most of my home is very neutral with soft greens and yellowy beiges, so I thought that something more colorful would be Continue reading...

Unfinished Basement Playroom Ideas

written by Lauren

basement remodeling ideas

Last year was a busy year! I started this website, and thankfully, at least a few people have read it! Thanks everyone for your visits! It's been a fun year. For all you new readers out there, I thought I'd post some of the most-read posts from 2012 -- enjoy! And, if you are wondering, I have created an unfinished basement playroom space for my kids, but it's nowhere near as nice as I'd like it to be. I haven't painted the walls or stained the floors in the unfinished basement playroom space, and there is still a lot of organizing to be done! I will have to keep working on creating a fun Continue reading...

Easy Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs

written by Lauren

Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce

Today has been a great day so far. One of my daughters just loves the snow, so I promised her last night that I would get up early (for me, that means 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday) and take her to the big pile of snow that the snow plows left in the middle of our street. She's been sledding and climbing on it all day. Luckily, my husband is watching her outside now, so I can have some hot soup and warm up! Before I took my daughter outside, I started a simple crock-pot dinner that my family just loves! All I did was take 2 pounds of baby back pork ribs and place them in my large slow cooker. I Continue reading...

Snow Day!

written by Lauren

snow, hill, sledding

Thanks to the recent snow storm, my area got at least 4 to 6 inches of snow last night. The kids are having a great time! We live on a cul-de-sac, so the snow plows just plow all the snow into a big mound in the middle of the street, which all the kids love to sled on! We had a great day on the cul-de-sac this morning, as all the kids and parents got together to enjoy the snow. The dads on the block created a snow run that ran from the top of the snow mound into the middle of the cul-de-sac so that all the kids on the block could enjoy some sledding. I love our Continue reading...

Picture Frame Dry Erase Board

written by Lauren

dry erase, picture frame, board, DIY

I like to browse Pinterest for craft ideas, and I’ve seen a lot of easy DIY picture frame dry erase boards, so I decided to make one of my own! I recently created a mini mudroom by my home’s front door that’s pretty functional. My home’s mudroom area has a coat rack, a mirror (for quick checks before heading out the door), a clock (to keep us on schedule on school mornings) and a rack with bins for hiding most of our shoes.     I have a calendar that I made (on Vistaprint) that contains all our important school dates and holidays, but I really needed a place Continue reading...
