With some kids home from spring break this week, plenty of parents will be looking for fun activities to do with their kids. These are some of the fun things that I've already done or have planned for my kids, and I am sure your children will love doing these spring break activities for kids, too! Start a Spring Garden In the Mid-Atlantic States, where I live with my family, now is a great time to begin a spring garden by planting some peas. Peas are a super easy crop to grow. So, I am hoping to start some peas with my kids tomorrow. Planting peas is not hard-- last year all I did Continue reading...
What’s New on Mom Home Guide
Here at Mom Home Guide, I've been getting ready for spring with Easter Crafts, an Easter giveaway, some decorating for the kids and some spring gardening! Check out what I have been up to! Crafting a Simple Easter Flag I am always astonished at how much it costs to purchase small decorative garden flags — most cost at least $10. So recently, I’ve taken to making my own garden flags. I don’t even have to travel to a local craft store to get the fabric — I’ve been purchasing fabric for my garden flags from my local Walmart, which has a fabric section. An Organized Kitchen Command Center
It’s often said that the kitchen is the heart of the home, but unfortunately for many moms, the kitchen is often the central point for something unwanted – piles of clutter. My kitchen tends to accumulate a lot of clutter, too. My kids like to do their homework on the kitchen table (even though there’s a desk for them upstairs), so we often have to take the time before dinner to clear off homework, pencils, books, etc. The kitchen table is also where I tend to leave the mail for my spouse to see when he comes home, so junk mail and newspapers tend to pile up there, too. Fridge Continue reading...

Craft: a St. Patrick’s Day Garden Flag
With St. Patrick's Day nearing, I'm getting ready to get out some emerald green decor! My first step will be to hang my handcrafted St. Patrick's Day garden flag, which was quite simple to make. To learn how to craft your own St. Patrick's Day garden flag, read more in this below tutorial, which I posted last year. With St. Patrick's Day coming up, I wanted to hang a St.Patrick's Day-themed flag in my garden. But I am always surprised at how much those tiny garden flags cost. For instance, a Leprehaun hat garden flag runs about $12 at Amazon.com. So, using the leftover fabric from Continue reading...
Mod Podged Craft Letter
Over the weekend, I finally got around to Mod Podging my craft letter. I've always liked large crafty letters, so I though I would make one of my own. The project was really easy -- I just traced the craft letter (backwards) on the back of some pretty green striped scrapbook paper I found at the craft store. Using a paint brush, I painted Mod Podge onto the top of my craft letter, and applied the scrapbook paper on top. To give the craft letter some shine, I painted some Mod Podge on top. I also added some scrapbook stickers on top for decoration. I was going to place the Continue reading...
Craft Sneak Peak: Mod Podge Letter
Hi! How is everyone's week going? This week is a hard week to get some blogging in -- what with the school holiday this past Monday, a school half day today and a lunch date that I have with my dad and aunt later this week, it's hard to fit in writing and project time! So, I'd thought that I'd give you all a sneak peak at my next project -- I hope to have some photos of the completed project up on the blog on Friday. Mod Podge Craft Letter I've always liked the look of monograms and initials, so when I was at the craft store last week, I picked up a big wooden "K," to Continue reading...
Picture Frame Dry Erase Board
I like to browse Pinterest for craft ideas, and I’ve seen a lot of easy DIY picture frame dry erase boards, so I decided to make one of my own! I recently created a mini mudroom by my home’s front door that’s pretty functional. My home’s mudroom area has a coat rack, a mirror (for quick checks before heading out the door), a clock (to keep us on schedule on school mornings) and a rack with bins for hiding most of our shoes. I have a calendar that I made (on Vistaprint) that contains all our important school dates and holidays, but I really needed a place Continue reading...
What I Am Reading This Week
Now that I’ve discovered the world of mom blogs and all the great designing and organizing projects that they do, I no longer need to subscribe to monthly magazines to get my home décor and design fix. I can get it daily just by visiting some of my favorite mom blogs. These are some of the mom blog posts that have caught my eye so far this week: Simple Slipcovers from In My Own Style Decorating with Plates from the Lettered Continue reading...
Magic Reindeer Food Free Printable
Now that Christmas is a week away, my children are very excited for Santa's visit. One tradition that we have and that my children look forward to, is sprinkling magic reindeer food on our driveway Christmas Eve. Luckily, they are usually given a bag of the "magic dust," by one of their friends. But, the reindeer food, which is a combination of quick-cooking oats/uncooked oatmeal and glitter, can easily be put together on one's own. All you need to do is take about a cup of quick cooking oats and mix it in with a little glitter from the craft store. In the bags of reindeer food that my Continue reading...
