A few months ago, I shared with you my friend Christine's awesome black and white craft room. Christine converted what might have been only a lightly used space in her home -- an area that would normally be a dining room -- and converted it into a striking craft room, complete with hand-crafted black and white decor, a card catalog for fabric storage and a highly functional sewing table. I am so excited because that room is now one of the inspiring spaces featured in Cristin Frank's new book, Rooms Repurposed: A Purposeful Home, A Purposeful Life, available on Amazon.com! What Continue reading...
Hand-Stenciled Valance
Happy Friday, everyone! I am still little bit behind on things, since I have been working on rehabbing my wrist (which I broke in January). I have been feeling a little down about the wrist (since I am not sure how the metal plate and screws will affect my wrist's mobility in the future), so I decided to share with you one of my favorite projects from last year. I sewed and hand-stenciled this valance for my home's powder room last year. I think the valance has a great message and is uplifting, since it has powerful and hopeful words like "love" and "family" stenciled on it. You should try Continue reading...

Four Lovely Valentine Card Crafts
By Guest Blogger Adrienne Erin Valentine’s Day can be just as heavily anticipated by kids as it is for adults — sometimes even more so. Rather than sending your kids to school with the same old generic Valentines everyone else is giving out, why not make some very clever and unique cards with them? In addition to your kids standing out with the coolest cards in their class, you get bonus quality time with your children. What’s not to love? Here are four great ideas I've found for you to try. Minion Valentine Cards Valentine’s Day does tend to have a heavily feminine tone with all of its Continue reading...
Mod Podged Craft Letter and Thank You’s
Editor's Note: As I posted earlier, I broke my wrist last month when I fell on the driveway during a snowstorm. (I went out onto the driveway to take the garbage can in, and I fell immediately!) Luckily for me, my good friend and neighbor, Kim, saw me fall and came right over. (This is a shout out to Kim for all her help during my injury -- thanks, Kim!!) You really appreciate good friends and neighbors in times like these. My neighbor's husband watched my kids for me (thanks, Tyson!), while Kim accompanied me in the ambulance to the hospital. (At least the kids got a fun Continue reading...
Framed Valentine’s Day Collage
Since I broke my wrist just over a week ago, I haven't been working on many projects - I've mostly been icing and resting my wrist, which now has a metal plate and 12 screws in it, thanks to my lovely mishap! Sigh! But my hubby and kids have been so sweet to me (they are the best!), that I just had to show my appreciation! So when I was doing a mini shopping trip at my local Walmart the other day, I picked up some supplies in their crafting section to make an easy and quick framed burlap Valentine's Day collage. Making My Valentine's Day Collage The collage is about the only thing Continue reading...

Lemon, Orange and Vinegar Microwave Cleaner
Over the past few months, I have been trying to make the switch from commercial cleaning and beauty products to more natural (and less expensive) homemade ones. That is why I am excited to join some of my blogging friends in sharing our own recipes for beauty and cleaning products! For my product I decided to make an all-natural microwave cleaner. Natural Microwave Cleaner When I clean the microwave, I usually fill a microwavable bowl halfway full with vinegar, microwave it for 1-2 minutes and immediately scrub down the microwave. It works like a charm! I have to tell you, though, that my Continue reading...
Dollar Store Valentine’s Day Centerpiece
Now that I have taken down all the Christmas decorations, my home was looking a little empty! So I decided to get to work decorating for the next holiday ... Valentine's Day! I spotted some great supplies at my local dollar store that I thought I could use to make a beautiful Valentine's Day centerpiece. So I picked up a class candle holder, a heart-shaped glass dish, a red scented candle and some plastic heart scatters -- all for just over $4! I had some Gorilla Glue on hand, so I decided to use that to glue my glass dish to my glass candle holder. Gorilla Glue is very strong -- I've used Continue reading...
Four Popcorn Recipes — National Popcorn Day
My kids and I just LOVE popcorn, so we just had to make sure that we celebrate today -- National Popcorn Day! In honor of the holiday, Mom Home Guide is sharing four tasty and unique popcorn recipes that you can pop up at home in just minutes. I know my children and I will be sharing a bowl or two of homemade popcorn today ... we will just have to figure out which movie to watch together tonight! Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn My daughters and I usually make batches of pre-seasoned kettle corn, but I've learned that making homemade kettle corn is very easy ... and yummy! Continue reading...
