I am so excited -- today I am guest posting for the mom blog, 5MinutesforMom! This Canadian mom blog is a great place for moms and features everything from DIY and craft tutorials, to giveaways to recipes. For 5MinutesforMom, I wrote about a very fun DIY craft I did for my home's dining table. I've been noticing that burlap decor is everywhere these days, from stenciled burlap to painted burlap, so I decided to do a burlap craft project of my own. DIY Fringed Burlap Table Runner My home's dining table is very long, so it's been difficult to find an inexpensive table runner for it! So, Continue reading...
Pretty and Simple Curtain Trim
A year or so ago, I purchased long room-darkening curtains for my home's master bedroom. The room faces east, so as the sun comes up, it gets extremely sunny in that room! As my husband and I tend to be night owls and frequently stay up late, we don't appreciate that morning sun too much, as it wakes us up earlier than we would like! (LOL!) Luckily, the room darkening drapes do a really great job at blocking out the sun and keeping our room nice and dark until we are ready to get up. Dressing Up Curtains with Ribbon Unfortunately, however, I chose an earthy brown color for Continue reading...
Safe Kitchen Knife Storage with a Knife Block
We all have them -- the kitchen drawer that is just a mess! That drawer for me used to be the knife drawer. That is, until I purchased an inexpensive knife block. My kitchen counters are already pretty filled with appliances like the toaster oven and my bread maker, so I haven't wanted to purchase one of those countertop knife-blocks for chef knives and other sharp knives. So instead, I used to store all my knives in one big kitchen drawer. But that meant that there were all sorts of knives in that drawer without any sleeves or any sort of protection on them. So, one had to be very Continue reading...
The Pluses of Buying a New Home
When my husband and I were house hunting for a new home more than 10 years ago, I picked my town in part because I loved the beautiful historic and Victorian homes that line the streets. But despite all the beautiful older homes in my town, I knew I wanted to purchase a brand-new home. My husband and I aren't handy, so I knew that purchasing a charming vintage home that may require updating and some fixes would be quite expensive for us -- everytime something broke or when we wanted to add our own touches to the home, we would have to pay a contractor to do the work for us. Plus, it is Continue reading...
Springtime Gardening
The weather was so nice here in New Jersey yesterday, that I just had to get outside and start some springtime gardening! The first thing I did was prep one of my backyard's raised garden beds to plant some peas. We hadn't planted our peas until yesterday because until then, we've had unseasonably cool weather, so I was afraid to plant them! To prep the raised garden, I weeded, loosened up the existing soil with a sturdy rake and added a layer of new topsoil from the garden store. When the kids got home, we dug a few 2-inch trenches for the peas, and planted our peas! From some Continue reading...

I also love finding new DIY projects, crafts Continue reading...
Wow Me Wednesday Faves
I’d really like to thank Ginger of Ginger Snap Crafts for inviting me to co-host her anniversary Wow Me Wednesday Linky Party! It’s been so much fun, and I’ve been enjoying meeting some of the other bloggers! I’ve been having a great time reading all the great DIY ideas, crafts and recipes that the other bloggers have submitted. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorites links! DIY Chalk Paint Chest I really like the Chalk Paint Chest from Rain on a Tin Roof. To make her chest, Jenna took a in-need-of-TLC dark brown dresser and sanded off the paint. She painted Continue reading...
Moen BoardWalk Spot Resistant Bathroom Faucets
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Moen, Incorporated for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. Every mom knows that when you have kids, keeping the house clean can be difficult! That is especially true in the bathroom. In my home's main bathroom, I often find that the bathroom faucets are covered with soap and fingerprints -- I even find fingerprints on the towels! My children really try their best do be neat, but as you know, kids will be kids! I've been invited to write about the Boardwalk Spot Resist bath faucet, and on more inspection, I think the faucet Continue reading...
