This post was sponsored in part by Stencil Revolution, which provided me with the stencil for this project. This post contains Amazon affiliate links. Hi, everyone! Today I'm sharing a quick DIY chalkboard sign that I put together Monday. I was able to put this sign together in less than 20 minutes! All I needed for my sign was a hanging chalkboard, some lliquid chalk markers and a fun stencil. What I love about my sign is that because I used liquid chalk markers to create my sign, I can easily wash the message off my sign and create a new one whenever I want! If you follow my blog, you Continue reading...

Zesty Black Bean Salsa Recipe
My family and I have been looking to eat more vegetarian meals. My husband and I are trying to lose weight, and we all are striving to eat healthier in general. That means we have been substituting things like beans and peanuts for animal protein like chicken and beef. We cheat a little on the weekends, but during the week, I have been trying to serve at least a few vegetarian dinners. My kids and I really like Mexican food, so I made a quick bean salsa one recent week night. The salsa can be served in a tortilla, as a side dish, or as part of a main dish green salad. Ingredients Continue reading...
Friday Five – Book Signing & Road Trip
Happy Friday, everyone! Today I thought I'd share a #FridayFive post. In the post I'm sharing five things going on in my life or five things I've been interested in lately. 1. Lee See Book Signing Earlier this week, I did something new -- I attended a luncheon and a book signing for author Lisa See, and her new book, "The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane." I've read five of See's previous novels, and am excited to read her new one! I love Lisa See's historical writing -- much of her writing delves into Chinese culture and history -- both in China, and here in the United States. Her new book Continue reading...

Planning a Kitchen Remodel
If you've been following this blog, you probably know that I've taken steps to update the look of my home's kitchen. I've repainted most of the oak cabinets white. (I just have a few more to paint.) I've purchased some new cabinet hardware to install. I've made small changes like organizing drawers and installing inexpensive tile under the kitchen sink. I'd love to change out the flooring and the counter, too. A good blogging friend of mine is doing a complete kitchen remodel -- I have to admit I'm a bit jealous! If you are considering a DIY kitchen remodel or if you are thinking of having Continue reading...
