Homemade Pea Soup Recipe

written by Lauren

This pea soup is filled with veggies like carrots, celery and potatoes.

Welcome to the Taste Creations Blog Hop! Once a month, my blogging friends and I get together to share recipes along a particular theme—this theme is peas! Which is very fitting because where I live, in New Jersey, March is the month to plant peas! And since it's been a bit rainy here, my peas are all faring well and really starting to sprout! For my recipe, I decided to make a pea soup—it's easy, filled with veggies, and very delicious! Vegetarian Pea Soup Pea soup makes for a fantastic weeknight dinner. All you need is a bag of green split peas, a handful of veggies and spices and some Continue reading...

Useful Jigsaw Puzzle Tools and Tips

written by Lauren

A Day in Bungalowville jigsaw puzzle by Charles Wysocki that has been glued together with Mod Podge

My kids love to complete jigsaw puzzles and save them. So I developed a method of gluing the puzzles together by carefully using a foam brush to neatly cover the front of the puzzle with Mod Podge. (If you don't want any shine to your Mod Podge finish, pick the matte variety.) I then slip wax paper under the completed puzzle, and use that paper to carefully lift the puzzle up so I can slip a big piece of cardboard (usually a flattened box) underneath it. I then put another piece of cardboard on top, and carefully flip the puzzle over so I can also apply Mod Podge on the back of the puzzle Continue reading...

tips for helping your child to learn reading

As a parent, you’re well aware of reading’s benefits. Even if countless studies didn’t highlight this fact, the pride of seeing your child read a book competently is more than enough to get you on board. Unfortunately, there’s every risk that your child isn’t half as enthused.  A surprising amount of children resist sitting down to read. As stressed as that might make you,  it’s entirely normal. Kids are built to move, so reading inevitably goes against what they want to do most of the time.  This leaves you in a tricky position because not only are you a busy parent who Continue reading...

Tips for the Recently Unemployed

written by Lauren

Follow these types if you've been laid off

Like many other people in the United States, I have been recently laid off. It happened about a month ago. I had started a normal Friday morning, and before I knew it, I was invited into a meeting with my direct supervisor and an HR representative. In a few minutes, my job as a content writer—one that I enjoyed and was very devoted to—was gone. At least, I consoled myself after the meeting, I didn't burst into tears immediately; instead I was steely and held myself together. (Yay, me!) Getting laid off can be difficult, and not just because you've lost a source of income. Losing a job can Continue reading...

How to Deal with Cramps

written by Lauren

This post contains Amazon affiliate links. As women, we go through a lot. Menstrual cramps, for example, can be a very painful nuisance, and whether they come with your period or they show up unexpectedly, they can leave you feeling irritable, uncomfortable, and exhausted. And if you're experiencing cramps but no period, you may be scratching your head, wondering what's going on.  Because cramps are more common than you might think, it's helpful to have some knowledge about your own Continue reading...
