Hello! Today is a beautiful day here in New Jersey, and that's no April Fool's! Tomorrow I'll have something new for my readers -- Mom Home Guide's first linky party! The party is being hosted by Ginger of Ginger Snap Crafts in honor of her blog's two-year anniversary. To celebrate, she's chosen a few bloggers (including me!) to co-host this week's Wow Me Wednesday linky party. The party will go live tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. central time. The party is your chance to link up your blog and a recent project, and to visit other blogs and see projects that other bloggers have created. I Continue reading...
Mom Home Guide House Tour
I just love looking at online house tours of other mom bloggers' homes. One house tour I recently saw was that of blogger Jenna from SAS Interiors. I just love how beautiful her home looks, from her tidy and clutter-free foyer, to her modern kitchen with beautiful wood floors to the serene master bedroom. I wish my home was so masterfully designed! To me, my home is a work in progress. Over the past few months, I've completed a few home improvements, like making our home's mudroom/foyer area more functional, creating a fun study/media/play space for the kids and adding Continue reading...
How to Organize Kids Rooms in Your Home
You might have noticed that I write a lot about making my family's home a more beautiful and organized space for my kids. I've written about children's furniture that add storage to a kid's room, how to organize children's toys, how to convert a basement into a fun and organized playroom, and how I turned a large upstairs hallway into a fun media and study space for my children. Needless to say, I've done a lot of research into how to organize kids rooms in a home! Ideas on How to Organize Kids Rooms Are you looking to organize kids rooms and kid-friendly spaces in your home? Check out the Continue reading...
What’s New on Mom Home Guide
Here at Mom Home Guide, I've been getting ready for spring with Easter Crafts, an Easter giveaway, some decorating for the kids and some spring gardening! Check out what I have been up to! Crafting a Simple Easter Flag I am always astonished at how much it costs to purchase small decorative garden flags — most cost at least $10. So recently, I’ve taken to making my own garden flags. I don’t even have to travel to a local craft store to get the fabric — I’ve been purchasing fabric for my garden flags from my local Walmart, which has a fabric section. Decorating with Wall Decals
In February, I remodeled a large upstairs hallway into a fun media and study space for my kids. My daughters love it. In the space are bookcases for their books, toys and Kindles, a TV and two large plush beanbag chairs that they picked out. One of the best part of the space is the wall decals I used -- but more on that later! My daughters love using the space to read, use their Kindles to play games and do research for school projects and play with their Calico Critter dollhouses. What they love most about their new space is the accent wall I created for them. The wall is painted a Continue reading...
An Organized Kitchen Command Center
It’s often said that the kitchen is the heart of the home, but unfortunately for many moms, the kitchen is often the central point for something unwanted – piles of clutter. My kitchen tends to accumulate a lot of clutter, too. My kids like to do their homework on the kitchen table (even though there’s a desk for them upstairs), so we often have to take the time before dinner to clear off homework, pencils, books, etc. The kitchen table is also where I tend to leave the mail for my spouse to see when he comes home, so junk mail and newspapers tend to pile up there, too. Fridge Continue reading...
Best of 2012: Garage Organization
Hello! Here at Mom Home Guide, I've been busy reviewing some of my posts from 2012. It's a good reminder of all the projects I've completed the past year, but most importantly, it's a BIG reminder of all the projects that I HAVE YET TO COMPLETE! A really big project that I need to finish is the garage. For years, I've wanted to install a garage opener in the garage. (I want to make entry into the garage during the cold winter much quicker!) But, before I can complete that project, I need to finish painting the garage -- I only have about 1.5 of the walls painted and I have to Continue reading...
Planting Peas in a Vegetable Garden & Giveaway
The other night I was treated to a great dinner at a Mexican restaurant with my good friend, Lela, her family, and my husband and kids. I've known Lela for more than 20 years, and she has become like a sister to me! She noticed that I was wearing the lovely charm bracelet she gave me a few months ago for my birthday, as well as a two-peas-in-a-pod green and silver charm that I've added to it. She noted that she loved my "gardening" charm. I bought the charm to symbolize my twins, but it really is a great charm to represent the gardening that both Continue reading...
How to Create a Raised Garden Bed
Last year was a busy year! I started this website, and thankfully, at least a few people have read it! Thanks everyone for your visits! It's been a fun year. For all you new readers out there, I thought I'd post some of the most-read posts from 2012 -- enjoy! Since spring is approaching, I thought I share how I put my bacyard's two raised garden bed together! It was easier than I thought it would be! Last spring, one of the best things my daughters and I did together was designate an area of our yard for a raised garden bed, and start a flower and vegetable garden. We started small and Continue reading...
Pink, Gray and Blue Palette
The other day, I wrote about a blue and yellow paint color scheme that I am thinking of using for my home office. I have been considering the paint color scheme, since while the room is currently my office, I figure that in a few years, when my kids hit their tween years, they will no longer want to share a bedroom, and I will have to give up that space. One of my daughters loves blue, so I thought the space might make a good room for her, should I go with the blue and yellow color scheme. But there is a problem with that plan -- the room comes with a walk-in closet, while the other Continue reading...
