Today I am joining some of my blogging friends in sharing fall crafts made with glass yogurt jars! For my craft, I used two glass yogurt jars to create two fall bucket list jars. I hope to use the jars to track fun fall activities that my husband, kids and I want to do together this autumn. The jars are filled with pretty wooden pumpkin-shaped tokens on which we can write the fun things we want to do this fall. (Like bake a homemade apple pie!) Fall Bucket List Jar Supplies My daughters and I recently picked out some yogurts -- we have all been aiming to have a healthier diet this fall. Continue reading...

10 Ways to Fit in “Me” Time
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, INC. and The Coca-Cola Company, all opinions are mine alone. #GoldPeakLattes #CollectiveBias The fall is a busy time for moms like me. I'm on the run getting school supplies, making my kids' breakfasts and lunches on school days, helping out with homework and taking my daughters to and from after-school activities. (Not to mention washing and getting clothing ready for school days, keeping sports uniforms in good shape, etc.) It can be hard to schedule in some much needed mom "me" time. I've pushed myself too hard in past school years. Continue reading...
Styling a Sofa with Throw Pillows
I love to decorate my home. I especially like making new throw pillows or sewing throw pillow covers for the pillows on my living sofa. That's because I've discovered that switching out the throw pillows in a room is one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to decorate a room. For instance, the above photo shows how I decorated my home's living room last fall. The colorful blue and yellow patterned pillows are the brown thrown pillows that came with the sofa -- I simply covered them with DIY envelope pillow covers. (Check out my envelope pillow cover tutorial for more Continue reading...

For this week's feature, I picked the gorgeous laundry room remodel by Melissa of Welsh Design Studio. I am crushing over the stunning black and white artistic tile, the butcher block counter and the sweet vintage artwork (that's available on her site) in the space. I'm itching to remake my laundry room! Weekly Recap Here at Mom Home Guide, I shared my monthly "Currently" post this week. In the post, I share how my family spent the Continue reading...
Currently – The Last Days of Summer & A New School Year
Once I month I take a moment from my usual decorating, decor and recipe posts, and focus on what's "currently" going on in my life. This month my twin daughters passed a big milestone: Yesterday they started their first day of high school. I can't believe they are in high school now! Last Day at the Swim Club I tried to enjoy the last few days of their summer vacation with my daughters to the fullest. One afternoon I took one of my daughters to the swim club. (My other daughter doesn't enjoy swimming too much.) My daughter and I enjoyed many days there together over the summer. I will Continue reading...
Get Well Care Package from a Good Friend
Here at Mom Home Guide, I've been working not as hard as I normally do. I usually have a slew of projects that I'm working on. Since my breast cancer diagnosis in late June and my lumpectomy in late August, however, I've been focusing on my health. One thing that made me smile during all this was a care package from my good blogging friend, Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom! (Read more about my breast cancer journey.) The package arrived the same day that I got good news from my surgeon -- she told me that in all likelihood my breast cancer will be cured with treatment with low chance of Continue reading...
Stylish Entry & Creative Corner Link Up Party
Thanks to Tuttle Publishing for gifting me the origami craft sets reviewed in this post. Welcome to our DIY/Craft Link Up Party! The party is held every Sunday at 8 p.m. Central, 9 p.m. Eastern time. Be sure to stop here each Sunday for the fun! This week’s feature is the Stylish Entryway by Sandy a La Mode. I love how she styled her space with a family photo gallery wall, succulents and gold accents. I also like the baskets for storage, and the seat for putting on shoes! I think the decorative vent cover is a nice touch! Be sure to stop by my Creative Corner co-hosts’ blogs to Continue reading...
Decorating with Wall Art — 12 Months of Goals
Once a month, my friend Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom and I both set a monthly goal for ourselves. It's a great way to get things accomplished. It's been rough for me lately. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of June and had a lumpectomy in August. I most likely will be doing treatment for my breast cancer this fall. So, I'm making my goal this month an easy one. I hope to hang some photo canvases and artwork that have been waiting to be hung in my home. I have quite a few framed art pieces that I have been meaning to put on the walls. Hanging Custom Art Canvases The newest Continue reading...
My Cancer Journey – Breast Lumpectomy
I just had a lumpectomy for the breast cancer that was discovered in my breast in late June. As surgeries go, I suspect it wasn't the worst it could be, but the experience was worse than some of the other surgeries I've had. (Specifically, it was worse than the bunion surgery and wrist surgery I had.) Lots of Pre-Op On the day of my lumpectomy, I arrived at the hospital at 7:30 a.m. There was the usual stuff -- signing forms and showing my insurance and ID cards, etc. Soon I was taken to an upstairs room, asked questions, gave a urine sample (pregnancy test) and changed into a hospital Continue reading...
