written by Lauren

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens. All opinions are 100% mine.   I have traveled the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 13A to visit IKEA, but now I have an even greater reason to head north and hit the same exit: The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens. The luxury outlet mall is a stylish destination with great buys on designer clothing, jewelry, entertainment, toys and games and more– the perfect place for updating my home and my wardrobe!   I am a busy mom, so when I go shopping, I like to shop where I can find Continue reading...

My Sunny Summer Garden

written by Lauren

perennial, garden, summer phlox, purple

I just love summer! There are sunny days at the beach, lots of time to spend with my husband and kids, and the beautiful flowers in my perennial garden! The garden is on the sunny southern side of my home, so it really flourishes under the summer sun! What's even better is that my sunny summer garden is just outside my living room's window, so I can enjoy my summer garden even when I am inside! I put in my garden just last summer, and I can't believe how much it has flourished since then! The photo above is of my beautiful black-eyed susans. They have been blooming all summer! I started Continue reading...

Crushing on Garden Stools

Memorial Day Blow-Out! Enjoy up to 70% off everything you need for the weekend.  * This post contains affiliate links. All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine. One of the hottest decor trends I've seen this year is the popularity of garden stools, sometimes called "drum tables." These design accents, often made out of ceramic or shimmery metal, are fun and versatile. Garden stools come in a wide variety of shades, including white, silver, gold, greens, blues, reds and yellows. The use of these drum-shaped stools are said to have originated in China at least 1,000 years ago, Continue reading...

Yard & Garden

Hi! Once the weather gets nice, I love to tinker in my yard and garden! I've only started gardening recently, so I am a bit of a newbie, but I still love it! These are a few of my recently outdoor projects. I know that I will be adding more projects to this page soon! Front Yard Planting Bed I extended the planting bed in my front yard earlier this spring -- check out everything I did in this post, which has tips on how to start a garden bed and photos of the beautiful flowers in my bed! Plus, read how to protect your spring flower beds from frost. My June Garden Spring is one of the Continue reading...

Fall Container Gardens

written by Lauren

fall container gardens

Now that fall is here, I have been looking for ways to continue gardening, since I had so much fun with my new southern-exposure flower garden over the summer. My daughters and I found a great way to garden in the fall and to add some autumn color to a home's outdoor decor -- fall container gardens! Earlier this month, I signed up for a fall container garden workshop at what has become my favorite garden store, Timothy's Center for Gardening in Robbinsville, NJ. I was going to go by myself or take a friend along, but instead, I took my twin 10-year-old daughters, and we had a Continue reading...

August Garden Tour with Mammoth Sunflowers

written by Lauren

mammoth, sunflower, bloom, garden, august

As August nears its end, I have been relishing the new sunny perennial garden that I planted this summer along the southern side of my home. I will be sad when the summer garden season comes to an end! I have especially been enjoying the mammoth sunflowers that are blooming in the center of my new summer garden. The smallest of my sunflowers is about 5 feet high, but I think the tallest is at least 10 feet high! The first of my sunflowers began blooming about a week or so this August, while one sunflower -- the tallest -- just started blooming today. I totally am going to be planting some Continue reading...

A Sunny Perennial Flower Garden

written by Lauren

perennial, summer, garden, phlox

Ever since we moved into our home about 10 years ago, I've wanted to plant a a sunny perennial flower garden on the south side of my home. That side gets plenty of sun, offers some privacy and sits just under our living room window. If I planted a flower garden there, I figured, my family and I could just look out the window and look at the beautiful flowers. Several years went past, and my sunny perennial flower garden didn't materialize. After all, starting a new garden is a lot of work! There is sod to be removed, soil to amend/improve, flowers to plant and mulch to be applied. I've Continue reading...

Curbside Garden

written by Lauren

curbside garden, curb appeal

The weather has been hot here in New Jersey, but that hasn't stopped me from doing some gardening! The other day I got it in my head to beautify the strip of grass that lies between the curb and the sidewalk at the front of the house. I mean, what is that little bit of grass for, anyway? It's a pain to mow and all that really grows there are weeds and crabgrass. Not pretty. So while the kids were playing on the Slip N Slide the other day, I got out a shovel and removed the grass -- I was surprised at how quickly the grass came up. I then planted a flat of impatiens that I Continue reading...

Starting a Flower Garden

written by Lauren

start, a flower garden

Hi, everyone! Hope you are enjoying your spring! Here at Mom Home Guide, I've been busy. The weather has been so nice, that I've been spending much of my time outdoors working on the yard. I finally got started on a flower garden that I've wanted for years! Starting a Flower Garden for the First Time On the southern side of my house is a swath of lawn that separates my family's house from our neighbor's home. That strip of lawn drives my husband (and probably my neighbor, too) crazy because it constantly fills up with weeds! I've always thought that placing a garden on that side of the Continue reading...

DIY Salsa Container Garden

written by Lauren

DIY, salsa, container, garden

Would you love to grow fresh ingredients for homemade salsa, but don’t have much room for a garden? Then a DIY container salsa garden might be just the thing for you! I planted a “salsa” container garden a few weeks ago, and thanks to frequent watering, my salsa garden has been doing well! To start my container garden, all I did was buy a big potted patio tomato plant. To that plant, I transplanted a cilantro plant and a parsley plant. I love how my mini salsa container garden adds some greenery to my home's  backyard patio. While I didn’t add them to my pot, you could add jalapeno Continue reading...
