This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and the Coca-Cola Company. All opinions are mine alone. #FrightAndDelight #CollectiveBias My teen daughters started high school this fall. They recently told me they might not be trick or treating this year. I thought it would be fun to host a Halloween movie night that we could share together, or they could invite some friends over. My husband, kids and I love watching family Halloween movies together. Since my kids might not be trick or treating this year, I thought it would be fun to host a Halloween movie night. Concrete Block Raised Garden Bed

written by Lauren

cinder block raised garden bed filled with mums

Over a year ago, I created an outdoor seating area in my yard with a few concrete/cinder blocks and some wood. Sadly the top of the bench didn't last long. Just before this summer, the wood warped, and the adhesive that held the wood to the concrete block base of the bench dried up. I debated whether to fix the bench or find another use for the concrete blocks. My family and I never used the bench much, so I nixed the idea of rebuilding it. (Even though the bench was pretty!) I thought about building a fire pit with the blocks, but my daughters didn't think we'd use it much. Continue reading...

Taking Some “Me” Time — 12 Months of Goals

written by Lauren

picking flowers in September

Welcome to the next installment of 12 Months of Goals. Each month, my friend, Carrie of Curly Crafty Mom, and I each take a moment to set a personal goal for ourselves. I find that when I take the time to set a goal each month, I am much better at getting things done. So far this year, most of my goals have centered around accomplishing a certain DIY task -- like painting my kitchen's cabinets or updating my home's master bedroom. But for my October goal, I am going to do something different. I am going to resolve to not take on too many DIY or blog projects. That's because in June, I was Continue reading...

Better for you cheese, beef and fruit plate with Lorissa's Kitchen premium beef strips and Honest Tea

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, INC. and The Coca-Cola Company, all opinions are mine alone. #SnackHonestly #CollectiveBias Now that fall has rolled around and my daughters are back to school, I've been looking for better for me snacks and ways to give myself a treat now and then. With the weather getting comfortably cooler, I sometimes like to enjoy an afternoon snack by my home's beautiful patio pond, enjoy a book or magazine and take in some fresh air. My family and I love Korean food and other Asian-inspired cuisines, so I was thrilled when I Continue reading...

Quick Meals for Fall School Holidays

written by Lauren

instant meal solutions Babbleboxx

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.com. All opinions expressed are my own. If you live in New Jersey, you know that school kids get a lot of days off in the fall. It seems that almost every week they have a day or two off. The first of these fall holidays fell last week, when my daughters had both Thursday and Friday off. Their school holidays coincided with a bad cold that ran through my house, so my husband was home, too. I was lucky that I had a few ingredients on hand that made putting meals together easy those days. A Quick & Easy Pancake Breakfast I started the day Continue reading...

DIY Fall Gallery Wall

written by Lauren

DIY fall gallery wall

I love decorating my home for the seasons. My decor isn't always planned -- sometimes I go where my whims take me. Recently, a trip to my local Target store spurred a new DIY fall gallery wall in my home's living room! For me, my home is one big craft/art project! Luckily my hubby doesn't complain about it much. When I shop at Target, I love stopping at my local store's dollar spot area. On one recent trip, I was lucky enough to snag an inexpensive blank pallet-style wooden sign, a wooden "Family" cutout, some silver and gold fall-themed transfer stickers, and some wooden autumn leaves. I Continue reading...
