Sadly, I am off my feet again! Earlier this month, I went outside to walk my pup, Mochi, and slipped on a sheet of ice on the staircase leading into my home. I am now laid up with a broken ankle and have just over a week more of recuperation before I can put even just a little bit of weight on my foot. The first level of my home has become my sole living space. It's a little messy at the moment, but it will have to do. Read more to see how I'm managing and trying to get my life in order. If you follow my blog, you might know that I slipped on ice and broke my ankle earlier this month. It Continue reading...

Big Changes in My Life Since my Empty Nest
My twins both started college this fall. Coming home to an empty house after my husband and I dropped both of them off was hard. I found that I was weepy on and off for at least the first week or two. I still miss them now, but I have been doing a lot better. A big reason why things have improved is that I have a new job! So exciting. I am working as a content writer for a media company. My job keeps me very busy but I have been having a lot of fun. I also find that I have less time to think about how much I miss my kids. I always planned to go back to work full-time again once my Continue reading...

Feathering an Empty Nest
Thanks to Therapedic for providing the products reviewed in this post. All opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own. #Therapedic #RoomRefresh #HomeRefresh My twin teens both started their first year of college at the end of August. (One is at Smith College, and another is at Bryn Mawr College.) It's an exciting time for them, but a hard time for their mom! I miss my kids. I've always been close with my teens. They went to high school remote for half of their high school junior year and all of their senior year, so we spent even more time together. It's been an adjustment for me now Continue reading...
Braised Chicken with Beer and Mushrooms
This post includes Amazon affiliate links. Today my blogging friends and I are getting together for the Taste Creations blog hop. My blogging friends and I get together once a month to share recipes that include a common ingredient. This month's common ingredient is mushrooms. I decided to make an easy and delicious one-pot recipe — braised chicken thighs with beer and mushroom sauce. For this recipe, I used one of the most handy pots in my kitchen — a Dutch oven. A Dutch oven is a deep, heavy-duty pot with a lid. It's a versatile pot — it can be used stovetop or in the oven. I have Continue reading...

Roasted Beet, Herbed Cheese & Avocado Sandwich
My family and I traveled to Annapolis, Md., last month. While we were there, we discovered Eastport Kitchen, which was near our AirBNB rental in Eastport. My teens and I ordered the Daisy Sandwich, which has roasted beets, hardboiled egg, arugula, pickled onion, avocado, and an herbed cheese spread on toasted multigrain bread. We like the sandwich so much that we ordered it twice! Once we got home I decided to make my own version of it. I think I've come pretty close. We love this delicious sandwich! The sandwich contains no meat and has fresh vegetables, so it fits with the semi vegetarian Continue reading...
