Baby Changing Table to Beverage Cart
* I am a Decorart blogger and received free product for the completion of this project. All opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own. Over the weekend, I threw a bridal shower for my sister (with 40 guests) in my backyard. I was lucky to have beautiful weather! When planning the shower, I knew the party would require some creative thinking. I certainly didn't have enough serving table space to put out food and drinks for 40 people! I remembered the unused baby changing table that I have held on to for years. I decided to convert that changing table into a very useful DIY beverage Continue reading...
Spray Painted Outdoor Chairs
Hi, everyone! I am excited because today I am sharing one of my latest decorating projects on Ask Anna. My project, spray painted outdoor chairs, was quick and easy, and will add a fun pop of color to my home's patio. Before I spray painted my old plastic Adirondack chairs, they were looking dirty, old and faded -- not pretty! But now they are a pretty shade of blue. For the full tutorial on how I completed my transformation, check out my tutorial on spray painted outdoor chairs on Ask Anna! Summer Patio: Hot Shot Insecticides
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hot Shot® Insecticides. I love summer, but I don't like the increase of bugs and insects it brings to my home! It's as if summer signals vacation time to the critters, and my house is their vacation home! So, when I was offered the chance to try out Hot Shot® insecticides, I jumped at the chance! I don't want those pests to make my patio their home sweet home! My husband and I put in a really great paver patio a few years ago. It's a wonderful place for our wrought iron patio set and for our new Weber gas grill -- I am becoming a bit of a Continue reading...
Prep Your Outdoor Spaces for Summer
Editor's Note: I am working on some new projects for the blog today, so I thought I'd share this post from Mom Home Guide's archives. I am a HUGE fan of Sarah, who runs the Thrifty Decor Chick mom / home decor blog. I want to ready my outdoor spaces for summer entertaining, so I decided to check out her blog, Thrifty Decor Chick. Sarah has an incredible eye for design and is a fantastic DIYer! Plus, her home is beautiful! Continue reading...
Celebrate National Bird Day
My dad gave me a really great bird feeder for Christmas (thanks, Dad!), and I am hoping to put it up today, since it is National Bird Day! It is supposed to rain today, so that should make the ground nice and soft for getting my bird feeder and post into the ground. My dad has the same birdfeeder and pole, and he says it attracts lots of beautiful birds to his backyard. My birdfeeder, the Homestead Triple Bin Party Bird Feeder, looks great because it can feed large birds like cardinals and blue jays, and because it has three separate bins, so you can fill it with three separate seeds to Continue reading...
2013 Year in Review
Happy 2014, everyone! I can't believe that 2013 is over! Last year was a busy one here at Mom Home Guide. So, before launching my new projects for 2014, I am going to share the best of what I accomplished in 2013! Here is my 2013 Mom Home Guide Year in Review. Burlap Crafts Burlap was popular in 2013, so like many crafters, I jumped onto the burlap bandwagon in 2013. It was fun! Two of my favorite burlap crafts I completed was my stenciled no-sew burlap valance for my home's downstairs powder room, and my no-sew fringed burlap table runner. Both projects were problem solvers, as I was having Continue reading...
Chain Link Fence Privacy Solutions
For homeowners whose backyard backs to a chain link fence, lack of privacy can be an issue. Finding ways to create privacy for a chain link fence can be difficult. Such is the case with my home's backyard, which has a schoolyard behind it. The school's chain link fence separates the school playground from my home's backyard. The playground is filled during the day and some afternoons with children who are very curious about my activities should I venture into the backyard when the schoolyard is filled. (Luckily, the schoolyard is quiet and empty most weekends.) So, if I'd Continue reading...
