This post contains Amazon affilate links. Finding enough storage in children’s bedrooms can be tough, but if you buy furniture and accessories with storage in mind, you should be able to find plenty of storage for kids rooms. My daughters, used to enjoy sharing a room together. (They have since gotten their own rooms.) So, when I chose the children's furniture for their room, I chose children's furniture that would give us the most space as possible for storing their things. Their room is fairly large, but not that big, considering that we must fit two twin beds in there, a dresser, Continue reading...
How to Make a Burlap Table Runner
Editor's Note: This project, which I made earlier this year, is very popular on Mom Home Guide and would be a great fall craft! So I am reposting this post on how to make a burlap table runner. Maybe I will make a new fall-themed burlap table runner soon! I will share it on the blog if I do! I am so excited -- today I am guest posting for the mom blog, 5MinutesforMom! This Canadian mom blog is a great place for moms and features everything from DIY and craft tutorials, to giveaways to recipes. For 5MinutesforMom, I wrote about a very fun DIY craft I did for my home's dining table. I've Continue reading...
New Tween Bathroom Decor
Recently, I finally got around to updating my kids' bathroom. Even though my daughters are tweens now, their bathroom until only a few days ago still sported the same kids decor that I put up for them when they were toddlers. So, I decided to take down the tot stuff and add some tween bathroom decor. I am the sentimental type -- it's hard for me to get rid of toys, even home decor, that remind me of my children's younger days -- it's difficult for me to let go when they graduate to the next stage of childhood! Everything seems to happen way too quickly for me. I can't believe Continue reading...
Stenciled Burlap Curtain
Lately, I've been noticing beautiful stenciled burlap curtains and projects on Pinterest and on other blogs. I especially like the stenciled burlap pillows that I found on blog, Ugly Duckling Transformations -- beautiful! So I decided to make a stenciled burlap curtain for my home's downstairs bathroom -- the bathroom that guests to our home usually see. Faux Stenciled Burlap Curtain I like the look of burlap, but I wanted my stenciled burlap curtain to look a little more modern, so I chose a heavy but smooth piece of scrap fabric from my local Joann Continue reading...
Black and White Craft Room Design
Last month, I shared photos of my friend Christine's fabulous dining room turned craft room. I think her new craft room design is just amazing! I received a lot of questions about her beautiful craft room design, so I asked her if she could spill some more details. Being the awesome person that she is, of course she gave me more info about her room renovation, as well as some great photos! Before and After Considering all the great textures and vibe in her craft room design, I was totally surprised to see her craft room's before picture. Can you believe that her craft room Continue reading...
Striped Chalkboard Paint Wall
This past spring, I created a fun hangout / study space / playroom for my kids in an upstairs hallway. The hallway used to have a big desk in it that nobody in my family was using and bare, white walls. So I decided to make the large hallway into a cool space my kids could use. A new feature of the wall is our a striped chalkboard paint wall. I painted a green accent wall, added a fun wall decal and added some beanbag chairs and a TV. Now, my daughters like to play and read on their Kindles and watch TV in the new hangout space / playroom. I also moved their Calico Continue reading...
Glam Party Room
The other day, my daughters went to a fun party with friends at a local place called Pinky Toes Party Palace in Robbinsville, NJ. At the party, they got manicures and pedicures, had a mini tea party (and learned some tea-time etiquette) and danced with their friends. The party place had the cutest decor! I loved the cute dining table that the party place set up for the kids (below). I thought the simple but cute covers on the chairs are adorable. I love the black painted walls up top and the cool flowers painted on the walls. The glamorous chandelier is also a fun Continue reading...
Patriotic Wreath Craft
My kids and I had some free time over the weekend, so we decided to do a fun patriotic wreath craft together to celebrate the upcoming Fourth of July holiday! We love to decorate our front door for the holidays throughout the year, so we needed a Fourth of July wreath. Since we don’t already have a red-white-and-blue wreath, we picked up some supplies from our local dollar store for out patriotic wreath craft project. For just $3.21 in supplies, I picked up: a grapevine wreath, a red and white polka dot gift-wrapping bow and a spool of red, white and blue ribbon. Fun Family Continue reading...
Black and White Craft Room Design
Do you have a space in your home that’s not being used to its full potential? My friend Christine did, so she turned it into a rocking craft space! Dining/Living Space Turned Craft Room The space she converted into her craft space is just off her home’s kitchen and would normally be used as a dining or living room area. But Christine, who does wonders with a sewing machine (she created a beautiful parade banner for our Girl Scout troop) and is quite handy (she built a dollhouse for her daughter with working lights), decided the space would work better as her crafting area. The craft Continue reading...
Easy DIY: Install New Door Hardware
Guest Post by Doug Harris Some projects in your home can wait for the perfect time – lots of outdoor projects, for example, are best done on a beautiful summer day.
