Dollar Store Valentine’s Day Centerpiece
Now that I have taken down all the Christmas decorations, my home was looking a little empty! So I decided to get to work decorating for the next holiday ... Valentine's Day! I spotted some great supplies at my local dollar store that I thought I could use to make a beautiful Valentine's Day centerpiece. So I picked up a class candle holder, a heart-shaped glass dish, a red scented candle and some plastic heart scatters -- all for just over $4! I had some Gorilla Glue on hand, so I decided to use that to glue my glass dish to my glass candle holder. Gorilla Glue is very strong -- I've used Continue reading...
West Elm Yellow, Brown and Gray Living Room
I am hoping to redecorate my home's living room, and I am so excited! For my Christmas gift, my husband made me a popsicle stick sofa (so cute) and said I could go shopping for a sofa. I can't wait! I've done a little shopping so far, and at the moment, I am crushing on West Elm! I love their modern color schemes and their small-scale furniture, which should work for my small living room. I am loving a yellow, brown and gray color scheme. I have my eye on the Paidge sofa. Isn't it cute? At 72.5"w x 38.5"d x 34.5"h., I think it would fit well in my home's small 20 foot x 10 foot living Continue reading...
Creating Photo Books at a Discount
© Pbclub | Dreamstime Stock Photos & Stock Free Images My husband is an avid photographer, so whenever we go anywhere, he takes lots and LOTS of pictures. Which is great, because I love preserving memories of my kids and all the fun things we do together. One way I do that is by creating custom photo books by designing photo books online and then having them printed and shipped to me, which is a really quick and easy way to preserve photo memories! One place I like to create my photo books is at York Photo. Photo Mementos When my husband and I have photos of events we've shared with Continue reading...
Celebrate National Bird Day
My dad gave me a really great bird feeder for Christmas (thanks, Dad!), and I am hoping to put it up today, since it is National Bird Day! It is supposed to rain today, so that should make the ground nice and soft for getting my bird feeder and post into the ground. My dad has the same birdfeeder and pole, and he says it attracts lots of beautiful birds to his backyard. My birdfeeder, the Homestead Triple Bin Party Bird Feeder, looks great because it can feed large birds like cardinals and blue jays, and because it has three separate bins, so you can fill it with three separate seeds to Continue reading...
Scrapbook Paper Gift Tags
I am a big scrapbooker and have been working feverishly to get this year's scrapbook of family photos completed! Since scrapbook paper is so pretty, I always save my paper scraps in case I can use them for something someday. Well, while watching the finale of The Voice with my daughters last night on TV, I figured out how to use all those scraps -- I converted some of them into pretty scrapbook gift tags for all the gifts I have yet to wrap! (LOL) With only three days of school left before the winter holiday, I decided to let my kids bring in their teacher gifts today -- but we needed Continue reading...

Halloween Boo Grams
It’s that season again – it’s almost time to “boo” the neighbors! We started a little Halloween tradition two years ago in our neighborhood where kids and families take turns “booing” each other, secretly leaving fun packages of treats, toys and goodies and a Halloween boo gram (a cute Halloween note) by a neighbor’s door. I've also created some free boo grams to share! My family is to the tradition, but Halloween "booing" and boo grams are popular in many neighborhoods across the country. Booing the neighbors is sort of like “Secret Santa,” where the gift Continue reading...
Fall Container Gardens
Now that fall is here, I have been looking for ways to continue gardening, since I had so much fun with my new southern-exposure flower garden over the summer. My daughters and I found a great way to garden in the fall and to add some autumn color to a home's outdoor decor -- fall container gardens! Earlier this month, I signed up for a fall container garden workshop at what has become my favorite garden store, Timothy's Center for Gardening in Robbinsville, NJ. I was going to go by myself or take a friend along, but instead, I took my twin 10-year-old daughters, and we had a Continue reading...
Sewing Homemade Pillows and Valences
Now that St. Patrick's Day is coming up, it might be time to pull out my sewing machine and stitch some handmade valances for my daughters' hall bathroom. I've gotten into the habit of making homemade seasonal valances for our home's bathrooms ever since I got my sewing machine as a gift a few years ago. My husband bought the machine for me because I used to get my fingers bloody when I used to hand sew my daughters' patches on their Girl Scout uniforms. Those patches are so thick (and the iron-on glue on the back of them never stick well) that once I'd finally get the needle Continue reading...
